What happened was Epic drop the ball heavy on Feelin' Myself... was a perfect radio song ( wasn't his best shyt, but still was a obvious radio ready song )

He left the label, and is an independent artist now, tours like crazy to make up for the fact he doesn't have a label to push his shyt.

Nipsey represents the side of the new west that's notorious for not asking for handouts from the older cats, and isn't really crying to Snoop and Dre about how they didnt put him on.

it's better to be in his situation, than to be stuck on a label and not getting your shyt pushed.

Nipsey is dope but I don't think his style is that popular necessarily. Didn't he fukk with a major at one point? Maybe that kind of killed it for him

MARATHON: A long-lasting or difficult task or operation of a specified kind. When we started this experience together I was leaving Epic Records after a much hyped debut album was pushed back for the 3rd time. I was frustrated and a little bit confused as to what my next move should be, but I knew that stopping was not an option. I had devoted the majority of my teenage years to working toward and sacrificing for the career that I was watching take an unexpected downturn (or so I thought). It was a rough period for me, one of the hardest things was dealing with the reality that I had faith in something that at the present time looked doomed for failure (my career). There were fallouts with my business team that came into the industry with me. There were unsatisfied fans online and in the streets that lost hope. There were even people in my personal life that saw me leaving my label as me leaving the realm of success, and lost the respect and admiration they had for me. To keep from loosing my cool I reflected in isolation and meditated on the course of events that led to this new reality. What I came up with was my way of dealing with the regrets I harbored. It was an idea that reassured me that this was just one leg in the big race to find your own version of peace and true happiness. The idea was THE MARATHON. On December 21 2011 I released The Marathon (Music) for free on this website and the feedback was unanimous. It seems that there were so many people dealing with the same emotions (fear of failure, regret, betrayal, and confused love) that the project became a form of motivation and gave way to a new conversation between myself and the people that listened. It was about never quitting, it was about taking pride in hard work and sacrifice. It was about accepting the lows with the highs that life offers, and more than anything it was about FAITH. As the new year progressed (2011) the positive feedback continued, and I began to see everything that I'd considered lost (fan interest, media interest, promoter interest, and label interest) return tenfold, but this time as fate had it there was nobody left on my team but the ones that stuck with me through the down time. It was clearly poetic justice and I saw an entirely new opportunity in building the operation back up on the foundation of "THE MARATHON". The next 12 months were spent re-organizing my team, touring, laying a business foundation down and working on my follow up project (THE MARATHON CONTINUES). On November 1st 2011 we released "TMC" and began a world tour three days later. The movement kept growing as did my means as a company and things began to go to the next level. At the present moment I'm in the studio working on the 3rd and final installment of the Marathon series entitled "VICTORY LAP". The re-launch of this website is the opening shot that informs the people on the track that its go time. As time progresses I will we releasing all content and information directly to this site and in turn to the members of it. There have been lots of rumors as to if and where I would be signing and the verdict is still out. What you all can expect is an honest project from an imperfect man coming soon. With that I urge you all to stay on your own personal marathon of growth and development and keep the doubt and insecurity that hinders everything great out of your system with a "survival depends on it" type urgency. With love and respect- ERMIAS (NIPSEY HUSSLE) ASGHEDOM

Nipsey had next for a minute but the label pushbacks and beef with an OG from his hood/old manager further complicated things.

He once said he didn't want to drop too much music because it would lose its value and risk oversaturation. Each release is a careful piece of work to him so I'm sure he won't disappoint.

Hopefully this deal with Skee can lead to more "radio" play because its almost impossible to get on West Coast radio these days without some payola of some kind.

Nipsey should use MMG like French and just get the exposure, because he lacks visibility. This next mixtape should give an idea of how deep he chooses to affiliate with them.

Dom Kennedy is skraight garbage fam i dont understand the appeal. Nipsey can spit but that other nikka is the definition of painfully average :scusthov:

you won't get it cause you're not an LA nikka.

he makes lifestyle music...it's more about the overall quality and feel of the lyrics, not just lyrics.

I remember him falling out and fighting with his big homie a couple years back, just seem like his whole movement slowed down after that

Who gives a f*** if he never blows on a big level? He's been putting out very good music for years now and shows no sign of slowing down.

And no mention of Raw with Blanco from earlier this year? Dope ass album right there.
