smh, nipsey never had next. this nikka never had a buzz like kendrick lamar, fukking 2 chainz or big sean. i don't know why anyone would think he was gonna blow.

:what:

Hussle in the House was HUGE out west.... Kendrick was still K Dot and sounding like he needed some vicks vapor rub on Jay Rock mixtapes.

LA is a very strange place as far as music goes, Power doesn't play local shyt...and our rappers have big followings, and nobody past Phoenix would even know unless they were really following shyt.

Hussle in the House was that undeniable song that let everyone out West know he was next...that kriss kross sample got flipped and on some gangsta shyt was :whew:

To people saying he had no buzz or never had a chance, back in '09, when the West was FIENDIN for a new star, he had a legitimate shot at breakin thru, I thought.

Both of these should have been much bigger. But Epic was a bum ass label.

Also, he was wrong for dissin Dre like that. I knew what he was TRYING to say (I think), on some "y'all waitin for Detox to blow us up, do it ourselves!", but still, that man is a pioneer, and pretty much the gatekeeper for West Coast artists poppin off in a major way.

Think it prolly mostly boils down to him being perceived as more your typical 90s style west coast gangsta rapper and that not being what's popping at the moment...the same way dudes like glass malone and jay rock never really did what they were expected to at one time...the "new west" movement took a lil bit a different approach...kendrick ended up putting tde on where jay rock had failed to do previously.despite getting a major look first ....tyga and yg had that new west coast party music sound (don't know if.it's a name for it) and blew off that...nipsey didn't really fit into any of those lanes....

you got it all wrong breh.

The reason that Jay Rock and Glasses never took off like that, is cause they just didn't really have a real marketable image to them.. yeah they can rap, they're from the hood... but they dont really have that appeal to make them a star.

the folks who listen to Ab Soul,Schoolboy and Kendrick aren't exactly the same ones who are gonna check for Jay Rock either..

the New West isn't just music for the function and the ratchets.. it's just been marketed to the rest of y'all as the skinny jean wearing not so tough guys who lived amongst the Nipseys in LA.

Nipsey didn't blow cause Epic fukked up, and he lost all pull to make an industry move.... not cause he reminds people of Snoop too much.

Yeah...this pretty much sounds like the exact same thing I just said to me...their image (generic west coast gangsta rapper) isn't very marketable at the moment...Nipsey pretty much has the same exact problem...so when we get to this

It's kind of a circular argument saying the same thing...you say Epic fukked up...I'm saying the reason they fukked is because it ain't the easiest thing in the world breaking a west coast gangsta rapper in this current moment in music...Epic couldn't do it with Nipsey...Warner couldn't do it with Jay Rock...Cash Money couldn't do it with Glasses...not a single west coast rapper that fits that bill has blew since Game almost a decade ago...it's same reason why a generic NYC mixtape rapper like Red Cafe ain't never made it

Warner just flat out sucks, They dropped the ball with Wiz Khalifa before Atlantic got it right... Say Yeah was huge, and the damn alice deejay sample got cleared.

Jay Rock tried to use Wayne to piggyback off his buzz, but it didn't work cause there was no plan afterwards...Kendrick did the original hook on there, and they put Will I Am to help also...Jay Rock just doesn't have the star factor him.

before Cash Money, Glasses was on Sony..had a 1.6 Million deal..they dropped the ball with him...on Cash Money, Wayne just outshined everybody at the time cause Carter 3 was still booming.... fact still remains that Glasses doesn't really have the star power, has the skills but that's it.

on the other hand Feelin' Myself literally got zero airplay, video never got pushed to 106 or even MTV Jams on some " Jam of the Week shyt"... they literally just put it out there, and expected it to move on it's own...

out of those three, Nipsey has that "IT" factor, Epic didn't do shyt to capitalize on it.

Nipsey was good when Hip Hop was at its worst phase (04-09 when one hit wonders ruled the land). Now we got the likes of J Cole and Kendrick and a new generation of lyricism is at full swing.

Plus Nipsey needs to realize that rapping about that gangsta/ crip shyt is ancient history.

Because hip hop fans for the most part are stupid and feel they can only support 1 artist or team at a time.. SMH! Meanwhile the average pop fan has about 10-15 various artist they support as a whole...
