First, your “billion dollar movies” goalpost is disingenuous when no comic movie in history had reached that plateau until 2008, and no marvel comic character movie regardless of studio had until the Avengers. Spiderman had every single marvel box office record until that point. So the idea that spiderman was no big deal is just the stupidest shyt ever. And, marvel agreed to partner with sony because sony said “fukk you we aren't selling” and Amy Pascal threw a fukkin sandwich and feige. Do you understand that marvel was so thirsty for Spiderman that they entered a partner deal with sony after Pascal threw food at that man? And they put venom in the post credits stinger? And they showed 3 other sony spiderman stars to help their storytelling?

sony had the cards. Marvel needs the stars. And spiderman is a much bigger star than everyone in mcu. That is just unarguable.

i already shared my thoughts in my last 3 replies, but the point is the future of mcu is looking real B-grade for characters, and Marvel and disney know they need the x men, spiderman, and netflix (punisher and daredevil) character star power they lack going forward.
