I dont even have a straight up Econ degree. I majored in Politics, Philosophy, & Econ w an Econ concentration.
Still got a consulting gig out of college. That's that Ivy League stamp.
But all the college kids I've interviewed this year have been finance majors.

Yea, I definitely never said where I interned at. I named off 4 or 5 companies and was like "one of them"
People on here....(not you necessarily) remember everything and I learned that the hard way.
You can rule Google out tho. I fukked that interview up & never made it past the 2nd round
i know the feeling man. after sniffing my CIBC IB Analyst interview the taste was too sweet. I'm fiending for a second chance now that I know what to expect for something of that level. This place im at will do for now tho

You're average business school student think much of an economics degree and recruiters look for financing/accounting degrees but will take economics majors.
My bad I misunderstood you... Well John Goodman is right.... Economics allows you to use both sides of your brain which makes you more adaptable to many different occupations... So in reality Econ degrees are not pointless...You are right in that a lot of Econ majors may not end up in Economist related fields... Most Econ majors at my school went to Law school... But you are wrong in saying they are pointless, because they are far from pointless.... Especially if they are producing individuals who are raking in some of the highest salaries...

FTR...there is no one type of Econ degree...some are heavy quant/math and others more fluffy marhmellowy social sciencecy types. Depends on both the school and the program, although I will say that school name basically neutralizes both of those in the white collar world. In the end either one is valuable for two different types of employers.
