Jacked this from a city data forum :

The problems facing Detroit are immense.

"they neglected the roof"

That's the problem with most of the vacant buildings. They are hollow shells.

"Are you also going to wait?"

I was Mansion Shopping in Boston Edison. About 50-60% of the Historic Neighborhood is vacant - 400 or so homes in all. Most of the vacant houses have an upstairs window missing. Two problems. 1. the place was looted. 2. Water Damage.

Also, these mansions need a lot more than paint and carpet. Many of them need extensive brick work. Some have 4'-0" diameter trees to close to the house. Some have Slate Roofs that need reglazing, etc.

The streets parallel to the Neighborhood area mostly ruin. A major problem is the Freaks cut through the Neighborhood while walking to the Liquor Store. The same Freaks are the people who will mug you, rob your house or break into your car.

" Maybe you guys would want to go 50-50"

I sometimes day dream about fixing up a Mansion in Boston Edison. But I won't buy-in when the surrounding houses are vacant.

We'd need about 50 to 100 people who would want to buy and fix-up their own Mansion.

These same people would have to be committed to the Team. We'd have to stick together in fighting the City Offices to redesign and wall off the Neighborhood from the blight, as well as fighting the crime. Sadly, some people would have to get shot to take back the neighborhood. And then we'd have to work through the retaliation.

It would be a monumental task.

seeing all the urban decay, i think the best solution is to raze all the buildings and jus plant some nice grass and make those neighborhoods giant parks or something.

or possibly agriculture if its possible, iono what ya'll seasons b like.

but having all those nasty abandoned buildings cant b good for property value, safety, etc.

i feel for ppl that gotta live in these neighborhoods.

Flint is a wasteland....and i'm from Brightmoor. :merchant:

:smugbiden: i love my city :smugbiden:
*gets his yays snatched outside the fox theatre, gets his chili cheese fries with chili cheese thrown to the ground, has date who is wearing northland leggings and authentic remy hair and timbalands from fairlane stomped out by some yak town rats as a linger stench of gasoline, black and mild/reggie weed and burberry cologne fills the air*
:smugdraper:

I instantly went back to my days going to the State Theater when it was a club on Saturdays...:lawd:

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
Im a Eastside nikka so u know what it is. In a way it is artistic to see how shyt is/has gotten since I was a kid (and it was already horrible looking). The Warren is fukked up damn near all the way down now, even past Finney going towards gross point. I grew up off Warren and Chalmers/Alter area and recently bought the crib I grew up in for 1700$. My block is still straight/populated so im tellin you nikkas, cop some of this cheap ass property. Im caking off 4 cribs all for less than 3 racks and they all were not stripped down by these scrapping ass nikkas. After I forced my way in :shaq: to see if they were bad, I found a few damn near untouched. Ownership is a mothafukka bruh......

Edit: Im a city nikka and I really aint all down for the escape the inner city vibe, if I can contribute to making SOMETHING better in the area im gone do it. I still stay off the Warren and im here until whenever its time for an upgrade, but my crib nice and im on a block full of old people who seen me grow up. Im a street nikka, I aint worried about none of that other paranoia shyt, im out here.

I'm actually afraid to go back and see what my old hood has become. I grew up near Schoolcraft and Hubbell and I hear that both of the schools I went to are now closed (Cooley and Cadillac). Houses on my old street that were once worth 70-80k are now worth 2-3k.

Detroit's not going down the drain. I think if you visit you will be surprised. I will say, please know someone up here and don't get lost on the East side (born n raised).

Stay downtown, or stay in the East Suburbs, like Troy (go to somerset if you end up in troy). The best time of year is summer or late spring. There is mad culture in Detroit, Great restaurants ( probably the most diversity of cultures and food anywhere), good Museums, a black history museum, Art, things to do. If you go to strip clubs, there are about 7 thousand in Metro Detroit. If you're seeking ratchet women - highest per capital.

Plus pride, this city basically is what represents America more than any other.

stop it nikka. lol

anyways.

yall nikkas is actually proud to live in a city resembling germany post WWII, like its tight. no, no its not, esp not in the worlds super power. that's not humbling, that's depressing. you live in the worlds largest economy only to live worse than baghdad. nikkas are living like afghanis talkin about I love my city. :deadmanny:

have you ever been there?

actually yes I have. metro detroit for a meeting. michigan is a nice looking state, there are some estates near the great lakes that will blow your mind, but the D is shyt. no if buts about it. complete utter trash. leave the midwest and visit places like seattle, portland, atlanta, miami, austin, fukk even phoenix, you'll literally feel bad about your city. other than gary id never seen anything like it. ive been to mexican cities that put it to shame with far more charm. it's actually one of the most charmless cities ive ever been too. new orleans is a poor but extremely charming city. detroit is not.

but hey have pride in it :yeshrug: maybe if I didn't know any better I would too.
