I still dont understand how Lex Luger flopped so bad in the WWF?

Can someone explain this to me? He was so fukking over in the summer of 93 with the lex express that it was almost guaranteed money to put him over at Summerslam. I know he didnt get the belt at WM10 because he ran around telling everyone he was getting the title but can anyone tell me why he never got it in 93? It would have made perfect sense to have him win and then build up the match with Bret and WM.

I thought it was fairly well acknowledged that that lex express shyt wasn't over at all.

They were trying to push him as a top level face and he just wasn't being received at that level.

I only know this cos as a young buck I marked for that Lex Express shyt and was shocked to find out years later that no one gave a fukk.

actually the narcissistic gimmick would of work and hindsight.....they should of keep him heel to feud to Bret

he got the hogan push but it wasn't being bought he got a lukewarm reaction at SS than than check RR 94 they were booing him over Bret

The Narcissist was horrible.

They brought him in under that gimmick because "Lex Luger" was not a WWF creation, but upon seeing how badly it flopped, they let him be Lex Luger and gradually phased out the weird shyt where he would walk to the ring with a mirror.

lex played a part in his shortcomings in the WWF when he got drunk and blabbed the finish to his wrestlemania match...the match where he was supposed to win the WWF title ...stupid ass

That shyt was over dont buy into that revisionist dirt sheet/smark bs because Lex went on to suck in later years. I think they were just trying to hold off on the big title win( save it for WM) but over the next months Bret just eclipsed him.

To win a title match by DQ, the reaction he got was a lot better than I expected when I finally saw that ppv. Got a nice pop and the Steiners had him hoisted on their shoulders like he won the chip

I always wanted it to be Luger/Bret closin' out WMX. Yoko could work for his size, but him and his stupid nerve holds had no business in the main event that night

i was only just 2 weeks ago reading the observers from the time, and it is not revisionist history. even at the time, it talked about how he wasn't over and was not helping business out.

even when bret came in, business wasn't great.... but at least bret could have great matches. lex just wasn't that good.

I liked bret because he was tough and smaller than other guys and was a good wrestler
I liked razor ramon because he's cool as fukk

As a kid its that simple...your logic doesnt go that deep...if i wanted to get over with kids i'd come out with a dog. I'd have a playful dog like a black lab or something, and that would be my gimmick...My finisher would be the K-9...i'd do psa shyt with Humane Society and shyt...and when i heel turn i'd kick the dog and get a rotweiler or something...

I'd be ic champ status immediately and sell tons of merchandise
