I see people with "BEATS BY DRE" and just shake my head internally.

Really depends on what you're into. This being a hip hop website, im surprised I see this silly debate as beats were made for people who love bass and appreciate the beat but It also depends on your phone. When you have an android you can cop a eq app(poweramp if its still around is goat) Iphones output is the weakest of them all and to get that boost, Beats are the way to go. The eq apps are also trash on iphone so youre SOL.

Anyone that says their $30 headphones sound the same as the beats is a fukking liar plain and simple if they have an iphone however, my vmodas i bought a few years back combined with a good eq on my android = iphone w beats. in 2011 i spent about $750 in headphones to compare. Bose, Senheiser, Beats, and 2 other brands i don't feel like looking up. For what i mainly listen to (hiphop, bass driven/7 or 8 string guitar driven metal) Beats kept me most satisfied

As far as I've noticed, most people who bring up the beats = sheep argument just hate hype and go against something popular which I respect, but they clearly dont listen to the same music as me or appreciate the "highs" in sounds where i love the "lows"

We all have preferences but dont be a fagat about it
i don't care of people buy beats or not, after all it's their money and they can do with it what they like. but when these things entered the market i was curious because i have respect for dre and because they were the first headphones that took design seriously. however, when i saw them in an electronics store and tried them out i was very disappointed, because the sound really isn't good and they are cheaply build. they are definetely not worth 400 dollars. not every 30 dollar headphones are better, but i've bought akg's for that price that had a better sound and were also pretty bass heavy. they looked terrible though. genereally speaking, if you invet between 100 and 200 dollars for headphones made by a reputable company such as sennheiser, audio technica or akg you will get better quality for a lower price. so if what you want are bright red flashy headphones with a cool logo that are endorsed by celebrities, than beats are the way to go. for all others, there is a cheaper alternative.

what drives this argument is the same thing as with the iphone. beats are expensive because they are placed as a premium product, not because they are the greatest, technically most advanced headphones you can get. people are following a trend and a brand, but claim it's quality what drives them to the product when everybody that knows something about electronics knows that is clearly not the case, it's marketing. so there are some who feel the need to point out that the quality is really not that great and that there is better product for a cheaper price and there are those who bought into the hype who defend the product they bought because they don't want to admit that it's mainly hype they bought into.

^^^^^Let's not also forget the quality of bass. The bass on Beats is bloated "boosted" bass. Beats basically have taken taken the bass notes, reduced the sound differences and texture away from them and pumped them up to sound loud, meaning "impressive" to most people. Other headphones may not have the loudness and thumping bass you get from Beats, but they reproduce that actual sound of the bass that the original artist intended (a more balanced sound to mimic how the artist/producer actually wanted it to sound). You can also track down many models within these high end headphone manufacturers that produce products where the bass is played at a higher level than the rest of the music, but has the components necessary to reproduce the sounds more accurately.

I agree with you...except I think the iPhone is a product of superior quality.

I don't respect cats in the bold because these I'm against popular things nikkas are just like the sheep they hate but on the opposite end. If you don't like something cool say that and keep it moving. Acting like if you not on this whatever lesser know brands you got taken. Honestly most people going to buy the thing that's marketed best since they aren't audiophiles anyway. That happens in a lot things areas too.

It's not worth 700 dollars though. Apples profit margin is huge, they could sell it way cheaper but the price is part of the brand. You can get similar or even superior quality for less money. But Apple manages to make it a must have gadget and that is why people buy it. Same as with Beats by Dre.

The Headphones are great....I tried it for the first time today. However, the price is not worth it for me at least. I have a $20 Sony headphones that work perfectly fine and has been for 3 years.
