In a way it's the 90s fault for what rap is now....in a weird way. All the legends (Pac, Big, N.W.A,. Hov, Nas, DMX etc...) unintentionally hurt rap.
They mad rap music so big. They made rap marketable. Hip hop turned into a business/corporation because of the legendary work they put it.
Naturally when something becomes a business, that business has to make business decisions and they have to pander to a certain audience to make more money. And the teenage bubblegum slightly homosexual crowd became that target audience somehow.
It's sad.
