Ok brehs, saw 42 tonight.

It is a very Disney like movie. The score, the slow moments, tender moments, etc. Just very Disney like.

It didnt suck but it was waaaaaay to Disney-like to really take serious.

I dont know if they wanted it to be that way, but Chadwick didnt really open his mouth to speak much. Was kind of weird.

I feel like Branch Rickey caught more hell than Jackie Robinson did as well. I mean Jackie caught it hard, but a lot of the film was to show that Branch Rickey was a good white man trying to do good.

Nicole Beharie, from Shame, plays Rachel Robinson. She wasnt bad, but one scene she was supposed to be crying but no tears were coming out. Maybe I saw it wrong, but that was weird, lol. She looked so sweet tho, I wanted to kiss her on the forehead.

All in all, the movie did its job which was to make you feel good. I liked the movie, even through the flaws.

3/5

I didnt think the movie sucked, but my critique is pretty damning.

It is probably more 2.5/5 than 3/5, but they black so I gave the extra 1/2 point.

Jackie Robinson can't sign himself to the Dodgers and it wasn't his idea. In this case their had to be a white person (Branch Rickey) instrumental to Jackie breaking the color barrier in baseball.

you can't try to sugar coat a racist era. If you gonna do it, do it right. I'm surprised Spike Lee didn't get a crack at it. shyt was ugly and disrespectfull back then so unless the view walks away with that sense of ugly.. what's the point in making it.

Trust me, there are plenty of racial slurs in this movie.

Yes, I think the reason for the 'Disney-like' feel is they want families to go see this movie. The only cursing is in the form of racial slurs.

Yeah.

I'm not ready for him to be exposed to "******" just yet. At the moment, he doesn't see a difference, I don't want to put it in his head before I have to.

I'd be more comfortable with him hearing "fukk" in a movie.
