I make everyone I interview solve this math problem. And if they can't, I won't hire them

this one woman was desperate to get hire. She was nervous the whole interview and was saying how she would give 1000% and could start immediately. I told her I had a few more interviews and she said I should hire her.

I broke out this problem and told her I would hire her if she solved it in under 30 seconds.

she looked at it for about 10 seconds and tried to figure it out. Then she gave me this sad look, thanked me for interviewing her, got up and walked out :mjlol:

This some fukk shyt bro. There's more important things than solving a stupid ass puzzle. Like someone who is going to go far and beyond for the job. And has loyalty and honesty. And you here giggling about this shyt. Enjoy your play thread.

Sure it does. You can tell if someone is

Overconfident
Lacks attention to detail
Doesn't process shyt well
Lacks confidence
Or they're just plain slow. The longest someone took to do this with was 27 minutes. And they still got it wrong :unimpressed:

Wait a minute... you really give this problem to potential employees and use it a barometer to see if they are a worthy hire or not?

in my weird, programmatical mind, the two horseshoe image is 4 sure BUT we technically were never told what that image of one horseshoe equals. I don't immediately equate that one horseshoe image to half of 4 but technically an undefined value.

now if it was a coefficient before the two horseshoe image I could see.....

I have employees whose work ethic, punctuality, integrity and ability to be taught the job is far more important than their ability to solve trick questions. Infact for some things someone who's not the smartest tool in the shed is a plus cause he/she won't game what I'm trying to accomplish.

There's nuances and bro has no nuance if this is all he is relying on as a final barometer.

And I'm assuming the company is not his so he's just out here with an inflated ego shytting on people desperate to work and would actually make good employees.

True it could be they are multiples of each other when they are together or it could mean they are added together. There's other possibilities to this puzzle on what two things combined means (+ or *) but this is not an issue since when the horseshoes equal four two plus two and two times two comes to the same value. So the only issue is the boot.. but we can assume since the others are Operating a certain way then the boot won't be square root of 2 but 2 split into 2.

I fly through these tests easily. Did a battery of them for airline pilot job. More than Half the coli didn't get the answer which means none of them should be hired?

There's other important qualities a business owner looks at vs a HR person.

I once had an aviation HR guy arrogantly asked me a series of questions that had nothing to do with flying. I remember he asked me what proximity was and wanted it to be defined in nautical miles. Not realizing we don't think that way on the job. If I want to know who's around I'm listening to the broadcast figuring out what angles people are coming from. Their Estas levels etc. We even go as far as chatting on other channels to spot each other. Co ordinate pick up and swaps etc to save the company money. Also proximity doesn't matter until you are on descent because there's 1000 feet difference when doing different directions between north and south as a plane. I just smh cause I didn't get it. I went and aced the national airline tests on my first try.
