I make everyone I interview solve this math problem. And if they can't, I won't hire them

I would walk out...
You dont want a HR person or manager that is playing goofy trick questions on nikkas.

That's a poor start to the relationship and someone should smack him.

Its 21. .. but the funny style shyt at the bottom of the question is a red flag for company culture

Why?

That's a simple logic question and a serious softball

Yo me it's quite telling if someone trips up on this question

tech interviews 2020's

for programmer interviews they buss out a difficult problem and ask you to solve it while they watch :picard: .
I had some company last year try to force me to do some remote technical exam. I laughed in their face and accepted another offer. Mind you this was after I was the last man standing. And they we're talking about making me an offer. Yet at the last minute wanted me to walk them through configuring equipment.
I ain't configuring shyt for free. A few days later they had to repost the job after taking it down.

Unless the job is teaching 8th grade math....
The question it irrelevant.

More than likely the job has nothing to do with math and the person may otherwise be capable and a fit.

Ntm, there is sort of a trick near the end of the question...some people would get 48, and we'd act like they dont know math when they do

i hate those kinds of interviews but that's the standard for programmers at top tech companies these days.

Sure it does. You can tell if someone is

Overconfident
Lacks attention to detail
Doesn't process shyt well
Lacks confidence
Or they're just plain slow. The longest someone took to do this with was 27 minutes. And they still got it wrong :unimpressed:

Sounds like employment discrimination to me.

Are You Using Employment Tests Fairly? The EEOC's Latest Ruling on Discrimination in Employment Testing and Selection Procedures

Time to call them EEOC folks. Anonymously of course.

I just knew fools that got 42 would miss the boot/horseshoe as just a singular item not a couple. :russ:

Programmers have it really bad when it comes to hoops to jump through to get hired. Which doesn't make sense because without them most companies would cease to exist.

They can wield incredible power in the Enterprise but only after getting hired it seems.

Horshoe is 2 each, boot is 1 each. Have to look at how they switch from 2 horshoes to 1 and from 2 boots to 1.

The answer is 21 for all aspiring math teachers

Hopefully this finder of ethic vagina will hire u

Damn, I wasn't even paying attention to the singular boot or horse shoe

Originally I thought OP was trolling with this easy ass question. But clearly alot of ya'll don't really know math like that :francis:

Explain to me how addition comes before multiplication in the order of operations?
It's a trick question because if you are trying to solve it fast during an interview, you will miss out on the fact that there's only one horseshoe and one boot in the last equation.

The answer is 21 with PEMDAS.

I'm in IT...and while it is a basic question....we actually do logic questions on whiteboard all the time
