Your high end TV has a Tegra X1 in it and can run a Plex server including transcoding media? It has advanced Nvidia AI upscaling in it as well? Face it they put garbage processors in smart TVs and you're lucky if the damn thing gets 4 years of updates before the manufacturer drops it.

If all you wanna do is watch Netflix and Hulu as long as they support the apps on that TV it'll work.
I literally stream Xbox xcloud n play Dreamcast, SNES, new, emulators on my TV.

So I'm wondering what is your box doing that I can't do

For advanced users the Nvidia Shield is a PLEX media server that can with a HD Homerun Prime and PLEX Pass be a DVR and it can transcode media files on the fly off external storage and stream them to a phone away from home. You used to need a home theater PC to do stuff like that. The Nvidia Shield is a much better solution.

I’m rocking an OLED. Gets me Android TV on my OLEDs with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. You can stream games from your PC to the Shield.

Even if I didn’t have the Shield I’d use Roku. I don’t use smart TVs as anything other than a display.
