what an odd set of moves, McLeod was one of the weakest starting FS in the league and is entering his 30s
i guess they wanted to let Malc get one more multi-year deal elsewhere? idk i wouldve kept him and let 23 walk
I believe Malcolm wanted a reworked/new contract this time last off season, but he for sure said once the season ended that he wouldn't be coming back on his current salary. So it doesn't seem like it was the FO giving him the opportunity to get one last big deal. He forced their hand by saying publicly that he wasn't playing with the current financials. His loss will definitely be felt... given that he was our surest tackler, defensive and possibly overall team leader and most consistent defender not named Cox.
