I grew up in KC, spent 20+ years around mid town.
The west coast in general has had a presence in KC since the early 80s, if not before that. There was kids claiming crip and blood here around '87.
Because of that connection the Bay felt really comfortable here. You'd hear about C-BO or Mac Dre hanging out around town. Mac Dre in particular had a huge following here.
Anyway, Mac Dre was killed here and this is where the story gets fuzzy....people claim Fat Tone either outright said he did it, or spit a verse taking credit. Which IMO seems highly unlikely.

I seen more RIP Mac Dre shirts around KC than I did RIP Fat Tone.
