First one is just as good as the first season or better (IMO I enjoy the books more than the show). It's an easy read, you won't get confused but there's LOTS of characters. Of course the show couldn't get all of them.
The first season follows the show closely with a few changes here and there. (ex. Jaime vs Ned does not happen, That hoe Ros is not in the books, there are changes on characters ages things like that). Season 2 deviates from book 2 quite a bit.

Book 1 follows season 1 pretty closely.
You can actually skip book 1 if you watched season 1 and not miss anything for the most part.
The books and the show are both great. I just could not wait to see what happened so read the books.

Imo, the episode before the finale was piff. The final episode was a bit meh but the last few minutes is going to have you like :ohh:
I wouldn't recommend that. I actually read book 1 after watching season 1. Glad I did to because there's a layout for a lot of theories. The first season doesn't really elaborate on topics like the War of the Usurper.
I read book 1 and liked it. However, if someone just wants to delve into book 2 and they have already watched season 1 they can do that and not miss any major event. That is all.

I get too excited watching this to read the books and spoil it for myself. I'm gonna read em all ASAP after the show is over though.

from start to finishSeason 2 episode 9 is perhaps one of the best SINGLE episodes i've seen in a series perhaps on TV ever....the effects, the costuming, the dialouge, the acting. It seriously made everything in Season 2 worth it and book 2 is my least favorite of all the books

I just copped the 1st 4 books a few weeks ago. About 1/4th into the second one. Watching the show first makes it a pretty easy read imo it helps u visualize people's faces from the show when reading about them
BTW..if I wanna buy them...I got them 4 for $16 on Amazon. Well worth the money
