Anybody can do that with any movie if they try.

Jenny being fucced up wasn't so much about her being "liberal"...her major problem overall was that whenever she had a problem
all she ever knew how to do was run from it (like she told Forrest to do forever). And you can't run away from some things (*cough* like AIDS *cough*), you gotta face them things like a hogg.

Meanwhile, Forrest never knew he was leading "the good life"...because for most of his life, all he wanted was to be with Jen-NAY.
All of that AMAZING chit that happened to him was just footnotes in his life that didn't move him one bit, because he had a..."different"
outlook/focus. For example: one of my favorite quotes "...so I wehent to meet the Presodent UH-gainnnnnn" (lol).

Breh we just disagree then. The movie is so obviously pro conservative anti liberal and this beacon for the baby boomer generation

That's fine if we disagree...but dig:

If this movie is so "pro-conservative", then what's the moral of the story?
What's the take away from this film, based on the story and the ending?

That if you're conservative and do "the right thing" then you'll be A OK

Was Forrest conservative?

In the movie I saw, he

- befriended a black man (lol)
- went to a strip club to see his friend perform, and started a fight
- went to a black panther party meeting on a whim
- took all his money and moved to go buy a boat and started a shrimpin' business
- left his bustling business to just go run aimlessly for 2 years
- married a (by your definition) "liberal" with AIDS he knocked up

and, was he "A OK"?

at the end of the movie, he was right back where he started in Greenbow, Alabama
putting his newfound child on the school bus, without Jen-NAY (who was the only thing
he ever cared about), possibly with AIDS. How "A OK" is that?

And also a millionaire who fell ass backwards into money. And yeah he was. Being conservative doesn't mean you're racist breh lol. He practiced "Traditional American values" and he started his own business, was in the military, played college football, loved his mama, hardly ever defied authority or convention and saved a wayward girl from her wild life by marrying her

You don't have to be conservative to do all of that stuff...

and my point still stands - all that all of that got him was sitting on a stump with a surprise son, a possible STD,
and no idea with what to do with the rest of his life. I don't see any "conservatives" pushing for that...

but like you say, we can just disagree.

Possible STD..I'm going off of what was there not what I assumed happened. And yes you don't have to be conservative to do those things but the movie goes out of its way to bash things that are very liberal or at least traditionally liberal and the person who's the most liberal in the movie ends up getting the germ and dying and being punished for her liberalness over and over and over again. The movie is misogynistic as fukk and not only treats it's female characters like crap but also is a sappy love letter to the baby boom generation telling them how great they were

I already said that.

Dog...what in the entire fucc does "liberalness" have to do with Jenny?

I mean, you're talking about her like she was Angela Davis or something. She was a user, b...

This is the point where I need you to go back to the setting. This is how they treated females.

but also is a sappy love letter to the baby boom generation telling them how great they were

I feel like we didn't even watch the same movie!

If anything, this movie told the Baby Boom generation how much the times they grew up in weren't as great as they remember.
Every situation in this movie was fucced up - the things one might consider Forrest's "acheivements" were accidents.
If anyone from that generation watched that movie and got their chest poked out about a retards' life being better than their own
from their generation, they need their head examined.

This is exactly what I mean, convo... I agree with points you both have made but I saw it as Forrest showing honor, selflessness, loyalty to Bubba & JEN-NAY... He might be slow but not bein corruped by the money... He ran from it.. but you can't run forever.. the duality is what i like, hope i explained it right... You see the politics, I see the humanity, a good character.... Most the things he accomplihed were NOT his life goals...

West where the Sunsets
Watched it a few days ago. Still holds up. I never noticed the soundtrack and it has so many good ass classic rock songs. They use a lot of Doors tracks and never noticed until this watch. I wonder if this is what inspired Gunn with GOTG.
