Yea I felt this movie would've done much better with a black female lead.
Men in general wouldn't want to see this off gp, because it looks like a romance ass movie about jealousy getting in the way of business... its a flick that the gf/wife would have to push us towards. But black & latina women wouldn't care to see this because there's no representation for them, so no romantic escapism + underlying racial connotations with the pairing.
In other words, you're pretty much banking on white women coming in droves to support a romance movie about a blonde white woman pulling the strings of a crooked black man... lol
So i'm not surprised that it only had an ok opening weekend.

Will Smith is like the Jay Z of movies....he probably gets real good scripts sent to him which are heavily character based but he thinks bout action and box office first...same with Jay, Jay thinks bout the sales/reception before the content because of their status and what they're typically known for.

Breh they waited a decade because none of the parties involved, outside of Martin, needed to do it. Bay has been doing Transformers movies since 06 at least or 05 for pre production so in reality, right after bad boys 2, he went into transformers and he's been there ever since only taking small detours to do pain and gain, which was a passion project of his, and of course producing other movies. But when you've done 5 movies from 2007-present and 4 of them have grossed a billion dollars what do you expect him to do breh?
Will didn't need it at the time either. He did I,Robot, Hitch, Shark Tale, I am Legend, and Hancock, all hit movies for him. The idea of doing bad boys 3 may seem more lucrative to him now but at the time he didn't need to do it.But if the studio wanted it bad enough or needed it bad enough, they'd fast track it rather than keeping it in development hell

Technically he doesn't 'need' to do anything as he's been rich for almost 2 decades now, so i could care less about his needs. I'm speaking on the execution of his flicks as a viewer. Hancock made bank off the hype and premise but the execution was trash with that twist. After Earth was a great concept as a father son space epic but there's varying issues with how it was done. Bad boys is one of his most fun franchises but he don't care about it like that.
That said, it's his prerogative and he can make whatever movie he wants, in whatever quality or timeline he wants.

lol I think a lot of them are great ideas starting out though, they just end up being questionable at times with the follow through.
