Nah, The only 2 types of people that are in positions where they need chest strenght to push off are offensive/defensive lineman and maybe wrestlers. If you only care about looking fit, then shoulder and back exercises are better. Bench press is just not top lift to me no matter what you're goal is
An underdeveloped chest will definitely affect the way your body looks. Why not try to maximize every muscle group?

From the front a well built upper chest, traps, shoulders paired with a small waist will make you look big and fit.

From the side it’s your chest and back thickness, traps, shoulders and arms.

From the back mostly back, rear delts and triceps.

Well yea, overall, maximize everything, but if we're judging someone based on 1 exercise, bench press isn't the one to choose

At least at my gym, there's no one who benches over 225 that's out of shape. Maybe it's an age thing.
Not out of shape, but don’t have an impressive physique. There’s a lot of other stuff that’s a better use of your time than heavy heavy press for hypertrophy. Bench press is still dope though.

Used to rep 145+ on dumbbells. Now probably 120+ for reps.

Again, what difference does it make. I've never really needed this is real life.

Thread is about flexing "strength" right?
Its not that complicated; but pushing free weights is more difficult than anything with a bar.....just saying :manny:
