I used to get aggy when black Latinos didn't want to be grouped with us, but it makes sense. Just as islanders not wanting too either. Why should they, they have their own culture and heritage.

We new world Africans (NWA's) are the only group of black people trying to claim every other black person as a brother or sister instead of a cousin. It's OK to have cousins, everyone doesn't have to be your brother.

Our country is the only country where "black" is our name. Not even in Africa do they call themselves black. They go by their tribe or culture.

So I'm not aggy with Latinos pointing out their separate heritage. We come off real whiny always angry because our cousins aren't our brothers. Stop it.

I moved around, but I mostly lived in the surrounding areas of Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, and lived in downtown for a minute. Most of the latinos I come around especially the white latinos do not like black people.

EXACTLY.....What makes me believe that they don't like being called black is how quick they are to embrace their Spanish/white ancestry. I always see them saying I'm not black, but they will be quick to tell you about their non black ancestry.

Um.....Dominican is a nationality. I have met white Dominicans, so I know that there are Dominicans that are white, but there are also MANY Dominicans with black ancestry. Nah. Taking pride in your different culture from us is one thing. Outright DENYING your blackness is another. They don't need to go hand in hand.

And yeah NOT ALL Dominicans are self-hating. I actually met many that claimed they were black. Though I will not deny that there are some who do have self-hate issues. But I'm not Dominican and have no business to force them what they should identify.
