The people on this forum aren't and likely won't ever be part of her audience. I don't think she will ever be the it girl when it comes to the American hip-hop market.
She can continue to flirt with the traditional hip-hop audience & have a super successful career doing the type of music she's been doing though.

I agree. Her market will be the Lady Gaga/Katy Perry/Dance music lane. Her music has European movement written all over it. I've always been into house music so the blend of House and Hip Hop is what appeals to me. I feel she makes the type of pop/hip hop music the Nicki Minaj trys to do but better.

That Pharrel song was so so......But this song right here has potential....It sounds like something you'd here on z100....It sounds Top 40ish. I can hear this song being played while I'm walking into a supermarket or shopping center. If Interscope puts some money behind this song the era will begin.

my nikka, breh!!
she makes house records, that would have uk permeation.
yet, I am not sure if world music will permeate in the same manner it did when backstreet made it a blockbuster draw.

so, I really don't see her having much permeation in the us.
if she made more actual rap records,..maybe..
till, she makes more actual credible rap records..
I don't see much happening for her.

you have to at least fool the public and stoke the flames and build a culturally minded or street/urban fanbase.
way before you sell way the fukk out and make actual house records.

banks, is trying to bypass all that.
then, fold it into a urban pop draw and it usually does not happen when it is so far progressed in the house genre, off top.

you have to gradually build to the house shyt.
even, latifah single wise built to welcome to my house.

she ain't pop out on some lame shyt like craig g and make a house record without making a mark with her other culturally enriched smash singles , first.
nor, did latifah go to far into the house realm originally.
banks is so far into the realm, of no return.
I don't think she can cultivate a following using the cultural base of rap.
mixed with the non-cultural base of house, predominately dominating the bulk of her material.
on top of the fact,..her only actual rap song of note is the jim jones diss.
which can and I believe was perceived after all it was said and done as a pander to the underground move.
that did not resonate in the maner a diss of that level should have.

so, afer that,...
I really don't see her making much domestic noise as a credible draw, stateside.
I could be wrong and maybe someone pushes the rolling pr ball of steam.
that triumphantly pushes an artist into being a superstar.
yet, that is more payola and deception/bait&switch, and not really a draw.
that we are expecting and will credibly give credit to banks for building.
