Lmao @ anyone who thinks the earth is 6000 years old. The Sumerian civilization is that old in itself.

We don't know what a day is to someone who doesn't revolve around the sun but honestly it doesn't matter if it's an earth day or a 1000 year day.

Behave yourself, do works of good, ask God for forgiveness when you do wrong or you will be destroyed in the next life.

The atoms that makeup you body will not be destroyed upon death so an omnipotent being definitely has the power potential to put you back together again one day and ask you why you did what you did and you don't wanna be sitting there like ummmmmm, that was a long time ago.

Everything destroying the world right now is what the bible speaks against.
It's rare for good to destroy.

If you're really curious talk to someone you know or reach out to a local church and I'm sure someone will chop it up with you. 95% of the time when people pose these questions on the internet they're not looking to understand a different perspective, just to argue or tell people why they think they're wrong.

1. Radiocarbon dating, as well as other dating methods, have never been substantially disproven.
2. The Bible says of itself that it is of no man's private interpretation (2 Peter 1:20).
They havent been proven either as there is noone to go back far enough to "date" them initially

every single dating method involves measurements now extrapolated to understand measurements in the past. It isnt logical, the science is based on forensics which were designed to date bodies in the "hundreds" of years not thousands let alone billions.

I will contest 2 Peter 1:20

Proverbs 25:1-3
1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

3 The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

the churches of the greeks will eat their works until their works eat them. I know as I am part of their church. Furthermore, you have taken that line out of context as it regards "prophecy"

prophecy should not be confused with anything other than prophecy. As they stand the Neviim and Revelations represent prophecy as they are the literal "words of God" spoken to the prophet by the HOLY spirit meaning whole. What that means in the context of infinity is beyond the average persons understanding so interpreting a prophecy isnt a good idea given the enormity of what it could mean in the context of infinity.

So my point still stands about feeling out words, poor listeners will never hear God, but a man who loves his hearing more than his speech will hear the faintest things.

This is untrue, but I'll let you cook.

Potassium-Argon dating, for example--which isn't used for biological samples--is reliable for anything older than 100,000 years. (Link)

How is the Bible different from "prophecy"?

i worked in radiation safety while in college, i had to understand it in a way that most dont care to know. Most radioactive dating is based on assumptions of reality which are not proven (the origin of radioactive species for one, and the nature of halflives second)

When you say "the bible" you are talking about a lexicon of many books and passages that were written separately and then put together after the fact for public consumption

Because of this, its not clear to most readers that the Bible in itself is from many time periods put together. Its not a matter of interpretation as much as it is understanding the history on each passage where Israel was in relation to God and ultimately what they had already judged OF God at the time of their writings. There are some things that flew over the heads of many biblical authors and prophets that to this day they do not fully comprehend. Any man who says in his heart that he understands God in totality does not know God.

Then you should know that saying that something is "not proven" scientifically is meaningless. There aren't definite "proofs" in science. Gravity and general relativity aren't "proven" either, but they are testable and explain a lot of shyt (i.e. explanatory scope). Scientific theories exist until other theories that explain the data better come along.

If you can show why the current understanding of radiometric dating is wrong, feel free. But unless you come with facts other than "it hasn't been definitively proven" don't waste your time. The existence of unknown properties do not disprove theories, in and of themselves.

I'd also like to establish that I consider myself Christian. I just don't agree with you throwing shyt out because you don't understand the scientific method.

that all sounds well and good, but radiometric dating is built on a shaky assumption of where radioactive species come from as I said before

that assumption is "fusion" "within stars" which has not been replicated in a laboratory and is assumed to be the insides of celestial bodies. No one has tested those yet it is accepted as fact and taught in schools. Many would be out of a job if those theories were truly scrutinized.

I have a degree in chemical engineering and as a professional, I have run design of experiments more than most typical engineers as my focus was Quality and Manufacturing. I know how to design them, control them, and interpret them very well. As I said before radiation is a poorly understood field that has very little funding these days compared to other areas of science. Most of the work done in radiation was done in the 20s-60s and has largely died down in state funding globally let alone here in the US.

My reasons to doubt dating standards used above 100s of years (Which is comparison of half life curves in labs):
  • Many of these samples when tested on different dating methods are not even close to an agreement
  • There are other ways material can be turned into radioactive species (electric discharge, cataclysmic collisions, celestial collisions IE meteor strikes, etc OTHER than fusion)
  • Many of the assumed dates of materials are referenced from studies done in the 1800s before radioactive dating even existed.
  • Very few long natural half-lifed materials have been replicated in labs only synthetic ones.
there are many videos on youtube where you can test each of my points and find a few answers. You can stand by your beliefs as they don't bother me, but to assume it's a settled debate is foolish.

Do you christians here really believe the Earth is 6000 old?
And also how can you claim the bible is the word of god?

You got it wrong buddy. 6000 years comes from when Adam first appeared which is the beginning of time, not the age of the earth. The earth is roughly 15 billion years old and both science and the Bible proves that.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

I believe in a young earth. If you add the ages in Genesis you will get around 6000 years. One third of the Bible is prophecy. There are things that have happened, are happening and will happen. If what is said is true then it has to be God.

how did all the animals fit on the ark? or how did evolution work so fast without people noticing?
