I agree, season 2 would have had me heated if I watched it as it was aired. After all that hood shyt, then it's docks time

Season 5 was fukkin with my emotions, especially with McNulty's treachery

Bodie was a true ass soldier. Worthy of the archives of the hood order

Like y'all, I can go on. Despite some fukkery I could have gone without, it was dope as shyt. Not GOAT status, but it's must see

bullshyt...if you thought it was garbage, you were probably watching The Wire just because it was "gangster" or "hood"......and you were doing it wrong.

I'm not White so I can't relate to that "bullshyt" that has you so animated. But the second season was damn near garbage on first viewing. Some message board pundit in 2012 trying to give it props nearly 10 years later definitely doesn't change that truth.

R=G your trippin...Season 2 had a lot of ill moments. The dialogue and writing in that season was probally the best of the whole series

-Brother Mouzone
-Omar's confrontation with Stringer about Mouzone
-Ziggy murking Double G/His talk w/Frank in the pen
-Avon sonning Stringer that his business classes dont mean shyt
-McNulty's drunk driving scene
-The Greek's organization and how gully they were
-The beginning to Major Colvin's plot line
-Prop Joe's-cadaverous mothafukkas speech


The only thing i hated in season 2 was the Nicky Sobotka character. The dude was just annoying and a horrible actor.

Nah...when I first saw the Season 2 shyt and all that dock nonsense after the cliffhangers from Season 1 and that "Ziggy" motherfukker getting all that attention? It was almost like a different show at that juncture.

It was a different show. That's the entire point of the series, to show different facets of the city. It's not as if the formula changed....season 1 was the hood, street level....season 2 was how the drugs come in, and blue collar criminals....3rd season was the political decisions that make the situations in season 1 and 2 possible....season 4 was how the school system, and over all system, fails, and makes the characters in season 1 and 2 possible....season 5, the media, was an over all view of the entire thing.

If you expected the entire series to be like season 1, then yeah season 2 was bad.

The show was never billed as "New Jack City: The Series" though. It was billed as an in-depth look at every aspect of life in the city. If you started watching it and had no idea, or never seen or read a David Simon interview, then yeah it was probably surprising.
