The symbolism in the WIRE is on some GOAT shyt. You guys notice the parallel arcs for COLVIN and STRINGER in season 3? Both them nikkas trying to reform a system that you can't reform. Both them operating outside of their circles to try different ways. And both them nikkas dead. Stringer literally dead at end of S3. Colvin figuratively dead as they RIP'ed that nikkas Police career.

And ED BURNS is dat nikka. He incorporated mad real shyt in this series. GTFOH claiming BB is more realistic then THE WIRE. HEX you one of the best posters on here, I'm ashamed of that statement. And I know mad writers, most hands down say THE WIRE is the greatest series ever.

BB is a top 10 show, but it ain't seeing THE WIRE.

People don't understand context.

There is nothing inherently unrealistic about "The Wire".

The entire premise of "Breaking Bad" is unrealistic.

You cannot claim realism and have a guy survive a 4 story drop then go around killing people while using a mop as a crutch. You cannot claim realism and have a fake serial killer story line. You cannot claim realistic characters and have a formerly street smart character like Prop Joe give up all his trade secrets to an obviously sketchy upstart like Marlo.

"Breaking Bad" never claimed to be realistic, so it doesn't have to be. "The Wire" claimed to be realistic, and turned into a comic book in season 5.

I just made my roommate download the 1st season tonight.

I already warned him the show is addicting and he'll probably finish it within a week.

It was a different show. That's the entire point of the series, to show different facets of the city. It's not as if the formula changed....season 1 was the hood, street level....season 2 was how the drugs come in, and blue collar criminals....3rd season was the political decisions that make the situations in season 1 and 2 possible....season 4 was how the school system, and over all system, fails, and makes the characters in season 1 and 2 possible....season 5, the media, was an over all view of the entire thing.

If you expected the entire series to be like season 1, then yeah season 2 was bad.

Fred.

Basically. Baltimore was the main character of the Wire. If people can't see that, then :snoop:

I just rewatched Season 5 over the weekend and that shyt is spectacular. People shyt on it for the serial killer storyline but that season was still great. Three of the best scenes of the show came from that season...

- Marlo's "My name is my name" speech
- Dukie asking Mike if he remembered throwing the piss balloons at the terrace boys and Mike not being able to remember that shyt
- The federal agent giving a profile of the serial killer, describing McNulty to a fukking T (that shyt was hilarious)

After rewatching season 2 its not as bad as I thought it was. It just starts off real slow and doesnt pick up until episode 5.
