she's mainly known for two albums, she was the shyt in the late 80's during that quiet storm era - but like so many of those artists (peabo, luther, freddie jackson), they just didn't transition well into the 90's
nah, 2 great albums ain't gonna cut it.
she's not even on Sade's level to me![]()
2 great albums? She has four platinum albums. One of her most successful came in the mid 90s. And she still came back in the 2000s with another. People talk more about individual Whitney songs than albums. In fact, a lot folks shyt on most of her albums after the debut. She got booed at the soul train awards. I mean if we going strictly off what casual fans are saying as opposed to going based off the music, close the thread.
i see your google works just fine over there...
I'm not really getting the Whitney/Anita argument when both artists are in different lanes (Whitney=Pop, Anita=R and B/Soul). I really doubt that Anita was trying to go for that major market like Whitney, even though she sold pretty well for the time.
...nights like this I could go for some slow relaxing shyt instead of something with a 808 in it
how breh her brand if Rnb was sophisticated af with lush strings and jazz instruments providing the bulk of her background. Plus her lyrics were always mature and subtle her music was tailor made for middle/upper class black people
those must've been toddlers because this video here has been going viral on social media for a while

she's #1 to me as far as women singers
