I thought the whole point of the show was the mystery of the Island not the characters but i guess you can't have a show run that long and not have people attached to characters. I just see the whole alt time line as useless if it did not pertain to the island.

'The constant' is still probly the best episode of any tv show ever though...
You're wrong. They died in the plane crash so the island isn't actually an island to the physical world. The island was purgatory full of evil to be conquered by good so that's why Richard said "Y'all wanna know the secret?...We're all dead". Why do you think Locke got his leg back? and why do you think Rose ain't got no cancer? because they're dead.
We all understand what the ending was. We were just disappointed that we wasted all that time on a wild goose chase with an ending that was pulled out of the creator's ass.
