Even if Caine wasnt on the streets like that prior to the story, the moral that you get from the film and its ending highlights what DOES go on in real life.

In some cases, you could try raise a child the best you can in a bad environment, but the bad environment/bad influences will still takeover that child's mind.

That was the entire point of the movie. Unfortunately this exact situation is what happens in a lot of low income (bad) neighborhoods. It can be very hard for a child to navigate all of these landmines when growing up. shyt friends, drugs, quick money situations, trying to keep up with trends and be part of the "hip" group.

Maybe you should go outside and start volunteering in some of these neighborhoods, start being a mentor to some of these youth, show them there is more to the world than their little hood and there is more to life than just making it to 22.

I don't really think the movie was all that great either. The whole "videotape" business was just stupid.

But I did like the way that after the fact you realize that the theme song is actually spoiling the entire plot of the movie for you
