I don't know how I feel about Andre 3000 being nominated by the Grammys for his flute album

We didn’t need to be desperate about a goddamn thing. Stop trying to turn music careers into some kind of Disney storybook stencil. Both Big and Dre’s verses stand on their own alongside other golden era greats, regardless of region.

By the time “Urban Legend” dropped, it was non southerners calling TI “the Jay-Z of the South”.

EVERYBODY except nikkas with mommy/daddy issues and fake super thugs knows Andre Benjamin can spit with anybody.

If we somehow got cut off from every other region we’d still have classics to listen to.
No no no. Theres a reason people claim Andre is this GOAT and not TI or any of the other ATL big artists

Those are two different points that you mentioned, and I responded too. The only one thing matters is that stacks isn’t some imaginary legend. He deserves ever scrap of praise and love he gets.

It’s the exact same point. Using what you said, why does Andre get the reputation he does but those “bigger” artists don’t? It’s not solo work, he doesn’t have a big discography…why is he seen as this GOAT in certain regions? :jbhmm:

I give Dre his flowers he was part of a legendary hip hop act, but his reputation doesn’t always live up to the actual music

Rhymes are rhymes, verses are verses.

None of this fairly tale, Disney princess, fantasy, rose from the concrete, happy ending bullshyt yall keep trying to apply, matters. This shyt isn’t wrestling.

The shyt they wrote on paper makes them great, it doesn’t matter who else was on the song. They all bring something to the table that connects us to them as artists. The greats are able to paint pictures with words in a way that not many others can. This is why he gets the praise he does. And he’s going to be celebrated well beyond death because of his contributions, whether you like it or not.

Who are these “bigger artists”? Are you mixing up this argument with somebody else?

Don’t be obtuse. I respect your opinion but there have been multiple acts, that you and others have mentioned from ATL, with bigger discographies, more hits, and classic solo albums. And this is my opinion but a lot of conscious verses in the trap era, Jay Z included get super hyped by the hip hop community bc it’s more rare to hear.

Andre is graded on a curve other artists aren’t because of his work with Outkast and his content out of a region that doesn’t have many artists putting out the same type shyt. Nowhere else do I ever hear Andre as this GOAT than online and in ATL. Is he a dope MC? Sure, a legend out the A? Of course. A GOAT? Highly fukking debatable especially when compared to his peers and others from his time period

Obtuse is pretending anything outside of the passion, art, and skill put into verses tangibly matters. It’s long been out of anybody’s hands. He’s regarded as one of the greatest to do it, regardless of region, BY HIS PEERS, and there’s nothing you can do or say to change that.

It’s all my opinion. We’re allowed to have differing ones.

It just shows how unserious the Grammys can be when given an opportunity to do something stupid that garners attention. Imagine being an actual musician/jazz artist and seeing that. Andre got some actual musicians on the album which I give him cred for but...come on.

You can see his live performances online, and I've spoken to people who have seen him live. He's...not good. And given all the good jazz music that has come out over the last couple years this just feels dumb.

How many times yall gonna use this shyt? Kendrick has won plenty after that.
I don’t recall saying he didn’t. It doesn’t mean Macklemore deserved the grammy, or that the grammy’s haven’t awarded less deserving albums.

Qtip definitely doesn’t get the flowers he deserves. He’s another creative genius that people try to write off because he didn’t follow into the super thug/hustler shtick, or they thought his beats were too jazzy for too long lol.

Andre been swagger jacking other artists since the 90s.

Those who sit behind picking nominees love that kind of trolling for attention.

Flute album sucks. Pick the best flute performers and they would make Andre sound like a complete amateur.
