I don't know how I feel about Andre 3000 being nominated by the Grammys for his flute album

I’ve been saying this forever. Atlanta and southern nikkas we’re desperate to have their version of Jay or Nas and we got the 3Stacks propaganda push

This makes no sense because they could've pushed Ludacris or T.I. into those conversations. T.I. was even dubbed the Southern Jay Z by Pharrell. Lil' Wayne is a southern rapper that was in the conversation even though I never thought of Wayne as elite.

Andre 3000 is of the same era/generation as Nas and Jay-Z. Wayne and T.I. are not nor have they ever attained the prestige as artists that Nas and Jay have. Andre is the closest thing the South had as far as commercial success and critical exclaim for the golden era that could match up. The problem is people tried to conveniently leave out he was part of a DUO and it didn’t come out how heavily he was leaning on Big Boi to keep the duo going, everyone thought it was the other way around because Andre was such a creative supernova. 30 years later Andre’s legacy as an MC doesn’t hold up but in Outkast’s prime he was seen as that dude.

I get that. I'm speaking more so to him saying "Atlanta and the South was desperate to have someone on the tier with Jay and Nas so they chose Andre 3000". My point is if they were desperate, they could've picked Luda or T.I. And we can't act like Wayne wasn't pushed into that into that tier even more so than Andre 3000.

There is obviously a 0% chance this would have been nominated were it from a straight up flute player.

Were it not this album though there is also a 0% chance it would have gone to any of the artists you mention. It would have been a Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter type and I’d way rather Andre receives Accolades than whoever else it would have likely been.

That’s why you can’t take these nominations and awards, even the Grammys and Oscars, too seriously.

Im around some legitimate musicians who play multiple instruments and they said its not a genuinely great flute album, nothing about is unique or advanced whatsoever. Take that for what you will, they are pretty critical of a lot of things in general musically
Disrespectful to all the flute unleashers
:salute:

you already know this guy. he played that exquisite flute on "lil ghetto boy" on the chronic

Okay.

More ways to skin a cat. That idiom means a variety of ways to complete one task.

Andre's metaphor is breeding dogs, breeding cats, horses, being an athlete and a chef.

It's all over the place.

And they rewarded it.

It's messy.

What genre would you call your music?

We didn’t need to be desperate about a goddamn thing. Stop trying to turn music careers into some kind of Disney storybook stencil. Both Big and Dre’s verses stand on their own alongside other golden era greats, regardless of region.

By the time “Urban Legend” dropped, it was non southerners calling TI “the Jay-Z of the South”.

EVERYBODY except nikkas with mommy/daddy issues and fake super thugs knows Andre Benjamin can spit with anybody.

If we somehow got cut off from every other region we’d still have classics to listen to.
