I don't get herbs who say naruto is better than Dragonball Z. THE NAMEK SAGA ALONE KILLS THAT SERIES

Ive seen maybe 10 episodes of DBZ in my whole. Ive been meaning to go back and watch it but never got around to it. Ive heard of DBZ Kai an DBZ Abridged.
Whats the best way to watch the series without a massive amount of filler?

I haven't watched DBZ Kai but the original DBZ's version of filler wasn't made up content but stretching out the manga content. In other words you can't really watch the original show and skip the filler.

It was a combination of both. A lot of it (like Namek taking 10 episodes to explode) was them stretching out the manga content so the show wouldn't catch up, but there was some made up stuff too.

For example when Garlic Jr. returned, that never happened in the manga and was made up. Same with Goku and Piccolo taking driving lessons, the afterlife fighting tournament, etc.

That said, the thing about DBZ is that it's hard to criticize due to nostalgia. It fathered most modern Shonen so it's hard to criticize it without looking/feeling like a hater. But in sheer terms of writing, Naruto is better. Most DBZ characters don't really have much depth and the fights get less and less creative as the series goes on. And yeah, Naruto has a problem with ignoring side characters but DBZ is even worse in that respect...by the Cell Saga anybody who wasn't a Saiyan was irrelevant, just like how anybody who wasn't Naruto/Sasuke/A kage was irrelevant in Naruto. Both series had a lot of asspulls during the end...the War and the Buu Saga are similar in that respect.

That said, DBZ may be more fun to watch and the characters are less annoying.

There are two; Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z kai. Z is the original and Kai:scust: is the newer version that updates the voices and cuts down on the filler. However it's a soulless rendition of the show because of the lack of Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack which adds another dimension to the show and takes it too another level. It makes a huge difference. Don't watch Kai

Dragon Ball Z: Abriged is a fan made parody of the show made by a group called Teamfourstar that has become very popular. They're still making episodes, on the 4th major saga right now.

Doubt you'll even notice the filler on a first watch.

There's nothing wrong with Kai. I'd advise a new person to watch Kai instead just because there aren't as many episodes to get through. It's one thing to watch it after school as a kid, but trying to marathon it now with all those redundant episodes where they're standing around powering up for 30 minutes would probably turn most people off to it. You could literally watch like every other episode and not miss much.

:mjlol: It's soulless and has :trash: voices and most importantly no Bruce Faulconer music which added another dimension to the show to a point where stories and certain scenarios were being conveyed through it. Dragon Ball Z would be just another anime without it. FOH about there's nothing wrong with it.

Look at the huge disparity between these two takes

Z:

You can feel the struggle throughout because of the music. 2:10 godfukking damn it's like poetry:ohlawd: that musical and emotional payoff:ohlawd:. You can literally feel Gohan's accomplishment.

Kai::scust:

It's just another moment in this piss poor rendition:scust:

There's nothing wrong with the music in Kai, in fact it's closer to the original Japanese soundtrack. And let's be reality, the voices in Kai>>>the voices in Z.

You really gonna say with a straight face that Frieza's voice (not to mention dialogue) isn't MUCH better in Kai? :usure:

He actually sounds like he's supposed to rather than an old lady like in he OG dub.
