I am in favor however of hard labor for the rest of his life. Or looking the other way if other prisoners decide to make his live a living hell. Preferably both. Technically, we didn’t do anything, the prisoners did

Same experience as you. I used to do Uber overnight in DC and sometimes Baltimore. All through SE DC, West Baltimore, etc. Glad I made it out of every sticky situation. A lot of cats just assumed I had it on me even if I didn't.

My last Uber driver said he only works from 6-6 cuz he got robbed twice and hit in the back of the head in Bethesda, Glen Burnie, and Baltimore.

Just watched that interview of the widow that lost her husband cuz some guys followed his Uber from the casino in Baltimore.

Idk if I would even do that shyt anymore. Especially not a woman. Most of the ones I’ve had have been older black people just trying to survive. Can’t imagine being in the front seat with a psycho behind you.

And even working in a convince store can be mitigated cause you could have a gun behind the counter

And you preoccupied with driving
And would never have the reaction time needed to defend

This government is literally spending millions of dollars towards case studies and examining the minds of people who commit acts like this. If society takes the position of "evil is just evil" and never try to understand it , then you can't create preventive measures to stop acts like this and society will be at the mercy of the evil leaving the only remedy to profile and arrest without warrant. That is a dangerous road to travel. So the question of why is important and we need to get more into that so that we can create an environment that protects people from people like him.

Incidences like this make me feel like these nikkas be like sleeper agents or some shyt. Sprinkled about to commit heinous acts for no reason.

To do something like this so casually surely there would have been other red flags or something to denote his mental state? Or done previous things that would have warranted him being admitted or incarcerated.

Overnight was pretty much a breeze for me cuz of no traffic and less Uber drivers on the road. What I made in 8-10 hours overnight was probably the same he made in 12.

But yeah it seems like he was victimized a lot. I only got into it for real with 1 dude in College Park and he was a college student. I had to get him out the car cuz he didn’t realize he did a shared ride and started acting like I was his personal driver lmao.

The only people who touched me were women and I’ll let you guess what type of time they were on lol.

I drove 95% of my Uber rides pre Covid tho. I wouldn’t do it now.

We found out that the institutions were damn near just as depraved. Patients raped and abused, starved, much of this facilitated by staff and lack of funds allocated to fix any of this ensured the closing of many of those places.

Well put. so depressing and rage inducing at the same time. I've heard all of the arguments against the death penalty, and I have agreed with the moratorium on it given the discrepancy in its handing out, possibility of putting an innocent to death, etc. but for heinous cases like this where guilt is 100% certain, I have no issue in it being administered. I don't feel it is barbaric. You do this, you pay for it with your life.

but what could an environment have done to protect this lady? What if all the tests were ran, all the medical treatments for given, everything about this dude checked out fine — and he STILL did this? What do we say now?

that’s why I’m stuck on a pessimistic position. Some folks are simply sick and I’m starting to see “mental illness” being a blanket term for anything people don’t want to face head on.

But the likelihood is , it wasn't. More times than not if he carried out this kind of act, we will find out that he had a history of mental health issues that were never remedied and went unchecked probably since he was a kid. Raising awareness to mental health will never stop crazy acts of violence all together, but you create an environment where you can lessen the acts and the probability raises in the positive that you can prevent these acts. But having nothing done leaves things like this unchecked and the results are what we experience a society of people that need more help but is failing to properly remedy it and a social media who ignores it until something crazy like this happens and we all shake our heads. Sure there are small examples of people coming from good homes , good schools, wealth etc and still acting crazy but you don't measure by judging the aberrations and outliers, you seek out the most likely scenarios and all studies will determine that folks who act out crazy like this come from the same similar dysfunctional backgrounds that went unchecked with no resolutions outside of maybe a small dose of counciling from a school aid or something.
