Because you can define a show as being better than another by using different metrics than how funny it is. For example, Fresh Prince is better than Martin because the ensemble was better imo, and the show dealt with more serious topics, and the acting was better. Martin was still funnier, but Fresh Prince was the better show. Even Seinfeld, which is right up there with Martin to me, is better bc of its cultural impact, and the strength of its writing. It's all just my opinion, you can judge them how you want to.

Bingo. NOT EVERYONE has to think something is a standout if it doesn't rely on a message. That's some weird conforming type of thinking. He should of known better.

I used to love Martin, but I tried watching an episode recently. Didn't laugh once. Terrible writing, forced jokes, laugh track, basically it was Martin shucking and jiving for cheap laughs. Pretty much low brow humor.
