I didn't ask about Takeover. I asked about their weekly television program.

NXT TV IMO seems to focus more on the developmental part of NXT, you’ll see more homegrown guys like Kona Reeves, Angelo Dawkins etc trying to get over showing their stuff on NXT TV.

Usually on NXT weekly they’ll have a couple up and coming type guys mixed with one or two angles/matches from the top indie guys and girls signed to NXT. It’s nothing amazing but it’s much easier to watch at only an hour and it isn’t massively overproduced like main roster weekly TV is.

All of that is still wwe & Vince still makes bread off of it.

By all means don't get too excited cuz history has shown that a good portion of the top talent that makes jump over becomes irrelevant.

It's not as simple as allowing wrestlers to have good matches. In NXT, they are also using old time story line devices and each match builds off a previous match in the feud. That's how wrestling always worked and that's how you get invested in characters.

WWE main roster relies on manufactured "moments". They don't take the time to slow burn anything.

It's good. There's usually 3-4 matches and then some backstage segments or maybe one in-ring segment. They develop their characters better for sure. Out of the matches you will usually have maybe 2 squash matches highlighting a talent and then 2 competitive matches. The main event is usually for some sort of contender spot or a title match. It's just like watching Jim Crockett Promotions.

They lose money on most non-Takeover shows. They claim it one of the costs of development and getting the trainees out and performing in front of different audiences though.

Triple H is lucky Vince loves to burn money and is petty enough to want to squash even competition that isn’t really competition because the NXT model doesn’t really work on pretty much any business level at this point. Even the OVW partnership was more fruitful in terms developing “homegrown” stars at far less of a financial loss.

The weekly tv has its ebs and flows. We just saw two great television matches with Black vs Ciampa and Un Era vs Mustache Mountain. It's a good product at the moment as the matches deliver as needed and push angles along nicely to build Takeovers. I think part of it comes from it being taped in an echo chamber.
