most def. now had he said Japan, I would have to agree but china? this probably the least westernized place Ive ever been in my life, its one of the things that draws foreigners here, that its like another planet, and completely ran without too much western influence. They didnt even start using pinyin for street signs (excluding shanghai, beijing and hk) until 2008. Chinese are prideful people, what they dont realize is that its the chinese that say "do you know how many things you use in america are actually chinese invention/culture?" everything from paper money to guns we oh so love. this doesnt even include the fact that everything in your house is chinese made, and you would be surprised how many companies in america are actually chinese owned...like AMC. American media is just really good at hiding the fact that some of our very ports are chinese owned.....Not necessarily a linear comparison since a). California is a smaller scale compared to China and b). people in California aren't, historically, as nationalistic and prideful about their territory as people in China (reference things like the cultural revolution). Western media has influence all over the world, no disputing that; from the Black people I know who've studied abroad or temporarily worked there, their belief is that the Chinese people there are ignorant about Blacks because of what they've seen through the media, so I'm with you on that. But, I think you're over-estimating the impact that Western media has in China.
Also citation for the bolded.
Alot of people have no idea, for example, that 7/11 is actually Japanese owned. this isnt something youre going to hear on your 10 clock news. MMA is an asian invention, heck even bathing every day is. tea, pasta, the list goes on and on.
