I am a first generation American but both my parents were born and raised in Jamaica, so I have minimum knowledge on the topic, but I do wanna start a dialogue.This is the equivalent of when White people in the US say “let’s all just be American”...they say that because they don’t want to respect your differences. The only time Nigerians have cohesion is when they are in a foreign land talking to someone they deem to be an outsider. Nigerian people in the US be all on that Nigerian pride bullshyt to AAs because they know the average AA doesn’t know the difference between an Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, or Yoruba. But when they are talking to another person they consider to be an insider to the culture then all the prejudice and animosity they have for one another rears its ugly head. That’s why splitting that land up is beneficial...Nigeria as a construct does not respect the classical African geographic and ethnic boundaries. A White man basically came and put crips and bloods in one house not understanding and not respecting the history behind the two gangs. Now they are fighting every day and people are like:
“I don’t see why they can’t get along they’re both gangs right?” Then some c00n in the house stands up and says “let’s just all be Crips and call it a day” and the Bloods are like
At the end of the day, the white people did all AGREE to just be Americans. In 2018/2019, the average cac ain’t out here repping Irish gang, Scottish Gang, English Gang, etc. The most you’ll see is a cac with a confederate flag, and that’s still considered American. So yeah them cacs did all agree to just be Americans and let’s be honest, they’re prospering.
I like how you explained the difference between the tribes all under one nation. That sounds valid. But the strength is in numbers and obviously with these tribes, y’all still beefing. nikkas don’t wanna lose their heritage but at the same time y’all dividing ya self and beefing with each other rather than the cacs and the asians using and depleting y’all resources while giving y’all penny of the dollars. So with all due respect, y’all tribes needs to assimilate together peacefully or be abolished in place of nationalism.

It shall never happen. Nigeria, along with Egypt, Britain and the Soviet Union tried to wipe out Igbos in the 1960s. 2 million out of 9 million Igbos total died. We survived and rebuilt our homeland through our own hardwork. You want to tell me that you want me to unite with the murderers who tried to wipe out my people? Forget it. Nigeria will dissolve, we shall go our separate ways and if the Yorubas want to be under the thumb of the Hausas in their precious Nigeria, that's their problem. Let them manage it like that.

You did two years in Nigeria and during that time, you saw people being denied housing and employment, denied executive positions in govt and top companies, denied the right to own property anywhere, denied the right to vote, targeted and killed by police, lynched by mobs for dating Hausa and Yoruba girls, all just because they are Igbo. Is that what you saw in Nigeria?
If you saw those things, then I would agree with you that Igbos are the "******s" of Nigeria.

Nigeria faces crises from its internal contradictions:
- Burgeoning population which is largely among the poorest in the world and expected to surpass America's in a territory the size of California (more than 400,000,000 by 2050)
- Islamic radicalism spreading in the North and creating Boko Haram, among other insurgencies. The Army doesn't have the ability to defeat Boko Haram
- Christians and Muslims slaughtering each other in the Middle Belt
- Lagos choking from overpopulation
- Oil losing value as a commodity this century due to increasing climate change and the growth of battery technology (oil is the main source of gov't revenue)
- No electrification - generates less power than the city of Edinburgh in Scotland
- Vast parts of the country are in the control of bandits, Islamic militants etc.
- Lack of critical infrastructure like roads to move around the country, and it's getting worse
Nigeria will go the way of the DR Congo or the Russian Revolution. More likely that Nigeria will become a hollow shell of a state (DR Congo route or the Road to Kinshasa), and various groups will cobble local power to create their own territories. In that event, Biafran nationalists will re-create Biafra.

Yes to all those things. Igbos have been murdered wholesale all over nigeria. Igbos are regularly denied housing by tribalists, especially in Lagos. Police shoot and kill protestors in igbo land all the time. Roving fulani cow herders are allowed to kill indiscriminantly in igbo land with little to no repercussions from the government.
Igbos are heavily marginalized in nigeria. Any success you see them achieve, both in Nigeria or anywhere in the world is purely due to God's grace. The Nigerian government actively prevents Igbo advancement to this day.

American people didn’t agree to all be American...what you’re referencing is how Irish and Italians were allowed to be considered White able to take in the benefits of White supremacy. They never stopped dropped their heritage, the Anglo power stucture “Germans” let the Celts “Irish” and Latins “Italians” let those other groups assimilate so that they would not cooperate with the African. So don’t think that they all came together for benevolent purposes...it’s the Anglos maintaining their power by allowing other people to have some of the spoils of the raping and pillaging.
Lastly, you can cooperate without erasing heritage, this is exactly what White people do. They put their Whiteness before all which means if there is an African, a Spanish, and an Italian all are hungry and there’s only one Apple, the Spanish and Italian dude are gonna team up and kill the African right away and then fight over who gets the apple. WE NEED TO BE DOING THAT! Respecting each other for being Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Akan, Kono, and etc but placing our Blackness first. We don’t need to pretend like we aren’t different, that’s delusion, we need to recognize or differences internally and stand unified in our commonality.
We need unity through respect and understanding not through delusion.
I mentioned this on here before, but my girlfriend is Haitian so I’m around a lot of them. I don’t know them to date or marry out in large numbers.
The “Caribbean” stereotype is attributed to Jamaicans, whom, from my own interactions, I’ve concluded that they fiend for whites. I honestly think Jamaicans may be the biggest interracial daters out of the entire diaspora.

That's weird because most Nigerian families (Igbos at least) have an unwritten rule of marry a woman from the tribe if possible, but if not just make sure they're black. I swear once they're not from the same tribe, any black woman will do as long as they come from a respectable family.
Marrying a non-black woman is frowned upon, bringing a non-black woman to the village is sacrilegious. My dad's youngest brother in the UK married a white woman and made the mistake of bring the white woman back to Igbo Ukwu. My mom told me my dad and his other big brothers spent the whole trip slapping him for it.
I also suspect appearance plays a big part too, like some Igbo parents rather their son end up with a dark West African looking AADOS, versus a Habesha East African woman that doesn't look like them or their family
Not a perfect comparison because while there is s stigma against Igbos that holds them back as political and public figures; Igbos are the most prosperous group out of the big 3 tribes, with the Southeast (Igboland) being the wealthiest region by far.

Nah, they have the wealthiest rich people but it's offset by the crippling poverty majority of them live in.
Per capita, Igbos are the wealthiest and the Southeast is the most prosperous. You can debate the reason for that another day.
