God bless Suzanne Collins. Twilight........that sh*t was about some teenage girl getting a vampire boyfriend. Girl stuff. Harry Potter.....while great.....is about the boy who's the chosen one to defeat a great evil. Great but, cliche. The Hunger Games is about a totalitarian government, corruption, social inequality, death, survival, oppression, pacification, rebellion and hope. Really, stuff that's too deep to be in a children's novel :banderas: If you don't feel moved when the people in the districts salute Katniss because she's the figurehead of the rebellion, then you're not human :banderas:

The part where Katniss realized she could blow up the dome and the camera zoomed in on her face while she stared at President Snow and pulled the arrow back :banderas:.....everybody in the the theatre was like:

It was alright, definitely a lot better than the first one but let's be honest, that one was trash. The guys playing Peeta and Gale have zero charisma or screen presence so Jennifer Lawrence has to carry the entire love triangle on her own, which she does by putting in some serious work. She makes Katniss far more interesting than she should be, because she's one of those generic 'chosen' lead characters who just has stuff happening around her while it's the characters that surround her that make it worthwile.

I've seen some of you guys mention Star Wars which is actually perfect to make my case, because she's basically the series' Luke Skywalker while characters like Haymitch, President Snow, Effie, Caesar, Cinna, Finnick and Beetee are this movie's Han Solo, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C3Po, Lando, eg. the heart of the series.

Also, it was painful to see the guy playing Finnick just dripping with charisma and screen presence the second he came on the screen (pause?) and totally embarrassing the actor playing Peeta. If only one of the young male leads is going to gain a successful career out of these movies, I'm telling you right now it's going to be him.

I'd say it's a 3.5 out 5. Only thing I didn't like was how little emphasis there was on the actual Hunger Games (again), like you barely get to see any of the tributes in action outside of a few scenes and it's mostly about Katniss' group with no real climax as it's mostly about setting up the next movies.

I really enjoyed this movie but the sme problem I had with the first one I had with this one and that is Josh Hutcherson as Peeta.
Dude looks 12 and the chemistry between him and Jennifer Lawrence is more sibling/best guy friend than anything else.
