Lol. Yea, not trying to hate the kid but he doesn't project the charisma, wittiness, wisdom and leadership abilities of RZA at all. He seems shy and he's mad stiff (pause) when he's performing his raps. Like he's uncomfortable doing it. I find it hard to believe this guy would be able to get 8 hard headed ass nikkas, some of them beefing, together to form anything. Don't see what RZA saw in the kid.
It’s weird cause his personality isn’t reminiscent of RZA AT ALL. Dave East is good as Meth but missing his humor a lil bit and I wish he tried to rap more in Meth’s style.

I legit feel like dude is playing RZA how i’d expect an actor to play Nas. Quiet, Observant, always got rhymes running through his head

Everyone complaining about the RZA character is missing that RZA is the showrunner. His character is being portrayed exactly how RZA wants so the issue you have might not be w/ the actor but how RZA wants to frame his story and his character.

Here's a radio session w/ Treach & Rakeem from the promo tour in this episode:

https:// archive.org/details/RawDeal-19910627/RawDeal-19910627-SideC.wav

It's not that he's portraying how RZA wants, it's that he isn't conveying RZA. The actors studied with their counterparts, or watched tons of footage. It's everything in the dude's delivery and presence that throws it off. When RZA talks, he commands attention, even though he talks with a quiet demeanor. There's no way you watched any RZA footage, or listened to RZA and came up with what this guy is bringing on screen. That's on the actor. You have personalities like Rae, Ghost, Uey, Dirty - all loonies, and strong authoritative dudes like Divine & Power in the Clan hierarchy, and they listen to RZA. None of the people on the show, as played would give this actor as RZA, control of their lives for 5 years.

Ghost dude doesn't sound like Ghost, doesn't look like Ghost, is charismatic but doesn't have Ghost's charisma, but he's killin it. East has Meth's quirks, and Shameik Moore went to a Rae school to get everything down..same for dude playing Divine.

He kinda looks a lil like young Ghost. I will say that.

Master Splinter fukked one of the ninja turtles. :heh:

Early 91 The Box finally came to Harlem cable....channel 50...one of the videos they were promoting during commercials was "I love you rakeem"....When that video would come on we would mock it but if he had that Denice Williams sample as the version as the single it probably coulda been better received because that Denice Williams version is a whole different vibe and mood.

Brilliant episode. Keeps getting better. Seeing Bobby having to navigate so many things and relationships is super interesting.

Great moments:
The armadillo shyt
the 5 percenter 'bout to beat his ass until GZA came through
this nikka dressing like Mr. Penguin
the AD on the video set grabbing Ghost's gun cause he thought it was a prop
Treach and the machette.
Saying Wu Tang for the first time
The real we love you Rakemm vid at the end.

Excellent all around. The dude playing Rae is a good actor, they gave him a little belly so he seem more like Rae to me physique wise. I know a lot of people not feeling him, but dude playing Ghost steals damn near any scene to me with his energy. Homie killing it.

:mjlol:@Rae showing up to the video shoot just ready to lowkey hate

:dayum:@Ghost actually acting like Ghost in the worst way in this ep

:wow:@the video shoot in general and the real video playing during the credits......godamn that song is cheesy :russ:

:gladbron:@planting the Gravediggaz seeds by having Prince Paul show up

The 5 percenter in this episode ya'll referring to is rapper Just Ice.

Yea. If you not familiar with him, do your research. Just was a wild nikka. One of the first NY MCs who actually was a certified goon off the mic. How they showed him in this episode was a very accurate portrayal.

For a split second, he looked like Rakim when he first showed up then I peeped his hat

Agreed.

That scene with Ghost is the BEST scene he’s done so far. The shyt was FIRE.
