why is that? I definitely believed it happened. Probably didn’t go as smooth as they made it look but in the 90’s dudes rapping at a party isn’t far fetched and white people were usually easily impressed
Some of these people definitely didn’t grow up in that era. There’s a reason hiphop was a big deal on these white ass mtv spring break shows and shyt like that. I believe that scene 100% even if it didn’t go exactly like they depicted it.

A lot of the stuff in the show didn’t actually happen

Multiple members have confirmed this already. We need to remember that this isn’t a biopic. While it’s loosely based on Wu, it’s still a television show

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that

Fixation?

Couldn't think of a better term.

They cut down RZA's family because there are so many brothers and sisters. That kinda makes sense. I'm just curious why they're focusing on infinite.. People commenting on his name, the giving birth scene, etc when ghost has other kids that (i believe) are older. They pick to include the one kid that doesn't fukk with ghost really.. Wondered what's behind that decision. Is it just because this is RZA's show and that's his nephew?

Enjoyed this last episode. Showing the relationship building with Rae and Ghost. Showing them grinding to get their song off and the realities of the game. You can have the dopest song but the industry doesn’t care until they see the co-signs and radio spins, I was legit hyped at the end of the episode. Everybody has upped their game in season 2 including the actors and the writers

Their crews were beefing. It's just tv dramatization to make their friendship more impactful to the viewer. Like when Rae saw the bullet holes in the wall at ghost's crib was a good tv moment.

Mook, Ghost and Rae runnin game

They knew each other before that, but their crews were in a major beef. The shootouts happened, Ghost robbing their crew happened (he was a stick up kid),Ghost's mom house being shot up happened but Rae & Power wasn't necessarily the ones that pulled the trigger - TV dramatization. But even chillin at RZA's spot, Rae said he'd always be watchin Ghost from the side of his eye because of their beef. Rae has spoken on it vaguely, RZA, Popa Wu...other dudes, but Ghost has never really told those stories. They ended up vibing just being around each other and with RZA...and watchin movies and making music...as did the whole Clan.

Mook told the record store story on the Mics & Men docs. It's great that now he's in the fold...being that he's also a consultant. So next, will we see the Chessboxin Masta Killa verse...with KP? U-God is being portrayed something lovely, as well. What do y'all say - at least 2 more seasons, realistically?
Thanks for the background information. Didn’t know their crews were beefing in real life. I thought they made all that shyt up for the show.

for someone who has the business and marketing savvy Rae shows here, why didn't his labels ever blow?
Rae used to use his labels to pocket money as opposed to breaking artists

he wasn't focused on being a music mogul. i think the only time he really tried was American cream team. He came up to Canada and ate good of some artists funds and systematic shyt we had here to foster local music growth then dipped. typical shyt... pocketing budgets and selling dreams

can someone explain Masta Killa story and when he pops up or why he isn't on the show

I think they are alluding to U-god possibly being about to have some legal issues

I know Cappa is locked but I don't know where Masta Killa is...

probably pop up when they show the making of Mystery of Chessboxing. Not only was that his first Wu verse but that was his first rap he ever wrote in his life.

Masta Killa was chillin with GZA in eps 2 & 3 when they were hustlin the videos and the park...Jamel Irief. He's already out of jail. His story is that he would hang with GZA, so he'd be around...same as Sunz of Man, soon to be Killarmy, the rest of Park Hill (Street/Carlton/Radar Ruckus etc). Chessboxin was the first rap he ever wrote. RZA felt they needed one more, so he was like "I got one spot open...whoever spits is in." Killah Priest fell asleep in the studio, and MK went in the booth and spit his verse. Rest is history. He's probably gonna be in the Chessboxin episode, since they've already showed clips of him in a Wu-Hoodie

Realistically at the rate their going you can could easily get three more seasons out of this if you include the first Wu-Tang Tour (the tour fukkery could be an entire season in itself if written properly) and the solo albums era. Remember Method Man reached a whole different stratosphere of stardom with movies and his partnership with Redman. You could explore that and how it impacted other members of the group like Inspectah Deck and UGod. UGod was Meth’s best friend and Inspectah Deck was considered one of the best in the Clan and RZA’s flood fukked up Deck’s debut album and UGod never properly got the respect he deserved during the Clan’s heyday (Plus the story about his son getting shot)

They could do an entire storyline about how during the Clan’s rise RZA pretty much locked himself inside the Wu mansion to make the beats for the solo albums. They could do some FASCINATING episodes showcasing his growth as a producer and how he was constantly challenged to outdo the last album and live up to his newfound reputation as beat maestro.

Even though the series is an ensemble, Ghost and Raekwon are kind of set up as the “lead” characters alongside RZA. Their could be multiple episodes chronicling their adventures in the industry and their run ins with Mobb Deep, Nas, Big, Tupac, etc. Matter of fact, thats how they could introduce the wider world of hip hop through Ghost & Rae just wilding out in clubs and shows. There could be fun cameos from characters representing Jay-Z, Snoop, Big Pun, Fat Joe, and Wu affiliates like Shyheim.

Getting into the making of Tical, Liquid Swords, Ironman, and OBFCL are MUST SEE television.

Also, as a series that really delves into the business aspect and the acumen and genius of Divine, Power, and Mook. I really think they’ll explore how the Wu empire came about. Remember at the height of Wu-Tang, it wasn’t JUST Wu Wear. It was actual clothing stores, merch, a record label, and VIDEO GAMES. Divine did an interview where he said Wu-Tang Corp at one point was making 30 million annually.

And think about it. Everything I listed is just the stuff that we ALREADY know about! If they want to start getting into the personal lives of each member and revealing things we may not know outside of group dynamics thats a whole new area of story telling. All of Dirty’s shenanigans could make a season within itself.

So really the skies the limit for this show. 3 more seasons, and ending the series with the release of Wu-Tang Forever and culminating RZA’s five year plan seems like a great way to tie it all up

I think its because thats the ONE child Ghost had with RZA's sister if i'm not mistaken. It would probably be weird for the series if they set up this great hood love story between Ghost and the sister and then out pops a random side kid that Ghost had.

It basically looks like they combined Infinite's name with Sun God's origin. Sun God is Ghost's first child and actually grew up in the hood of Staten Island. There is video footage of Raekwon introducing a young Sun God in the projects.

Masta Killa was a "disciple" of GZA's alongside Killah Priest. He wasn't really part of the early Wu origin story until he heard Protect Ya Neck. He said the day he heard that song was the day he knew he wanted to be a part of Wu and wold do anything to make it happen. He started hanging with RZA and playing chess with different members and when they were in the studio he stayed up all night to write his verse while Killah Priest fell asleep. Thats why he's only on that one song Mystery Of Chess Boxin off their debut album because he was literally a last minute addition.
