People really undermine Gokus mental prowess. He was a genius when it came to tactical combat and has outsmarted countless of enemies (and friends: see Trunks vs Cell)
He isn't in the topic but Vegeta was brilliant too. The saiyans were definitely competent when the situation called for it.

Not a single one of Goku's villians was anything close to a genius, most of them were outright ignorant to the universe or insane. Superman just has a wider variety of opponents to face thus he has more experience with a variety of foes. Every single one of Goku's enemies was defeated by Goku "working out and getting stronger".

Piccolo only seemed like a Genius compared to Goku and Vegeta, two of the most rash thinkings in the entire seris.

Dr. Briefs was a Genius, Dr. Gero was a Genius, Piccolo was AT BEST an above average intelligence and a good strategist. Buu was good at fighting, he was not smart in any other category and measurement.

Over half of Superman or most comic villains are smarter than each of DBZ's main villains.
