I think they would, history has shown time and time again there will be some level of desertion but they'd still have a fighting force and there would be soldiers firing on Americans.

That's mainly because the US tries to win "hearts and minds" if they just said fukk it and threw collateral damage completely in the bushes Afghanistan would be a parking lot right now.

The same applies to us, if they didn't care about collateral damage we'd be fukked. And in crushing a revolution I think they wouldn't care about winning hearts and minds.

yup. If we wanted to, we could easily colonize Iraq and Afghanistan. And they had alot of trained military or militia fighting on their side.

You obviously haven't been paying attention over the last 8-9 years on Bill of Rights shrinking and shrinking. Indefinite Detention without a trial, Free-Speech Zones, No right to counsel, no due process, religion is bleak if you are a muslim, etc.

with AK's and homemade explosives Afghans have kept up the fight against our military for over a decade. Check the battle reports from Afghanistan. We still dying over there.

Sure, a lot will refuse but then again a lot will just follow orders. Look at Syria, a lot of desertions but they are still killing civilians like it's going out of style, and their military doesn't have 1/100th the capability as ours.
