They should have ended months ago. Biden caved to the left by extending them.

The liberal argument to the staffing shortage problem of "just raise wages" isn't the correct answer. This is the one thing the GOP has been correct on. People would have been more inclined to work if they weren't getting enough government assistance that really doesn't warrant them to work.
No people aren't going back to meager wages. I don't blame them. If you can't survive off keeping your employees poor you shouldn't be in business. Everything is going through the roof. The only thing that has consistently not changed is wages. Has the Chamber of commerce sponsored some of you? It's pretty simple.. you want good workers? You pay for them.

You want money? Get off your fukking ass and work. You can't live on government assistance forever. It has nothing to do with wages. That is an excuse to cover for those who are sitting on their asses collecting money.

If people are making more money off government assistance than working, that’s a sign that wages are too low.

Or thats a sign that you need to do better with your life and stop being on min wage/low wage jobs.

All I see is excuses. Unemployment assistance has been going on how long now? Almost 1 and a half years. Of course people aren't going to work when they sitting at home stacking money from the government.

Blame wages instead of long term free hand outs. Smart economics.

They should stick to remote until a vaccine is out for kids. Delta is killing kids more than the last strain, but everybody is making a push for kids to go to school.

It’s madness and the only justifiable reason is some a$$hole made up their mind kids being home was keeping parents home, which meant they couldn’t go to work.
Pretty cynical way to look at this situation. Most teachers will agree that the kids need to be in school. Period. Biden said from the outset that his main goal for was that to happen.

There's absolutely no way kids were going to do another year virtually given the lack of attendance and achievement shown last year across the nation.

The biggest issue is making sure kids and teachers are wearing masks, and that teachers are vaccinated.

Agreeing with conservatives on one thing does not make me one. This tribalism from both sides have to stop.

You agree with them on economics, which is what their decisions are based off.

You are the “fiscally conservative, socially liberal,” type.

You shame people low wage earners.

Not true. Because I believe in tax increases for corporations and the rich.

I just don't believe people should live off hand outs and damage businesses who face severe staffing shortages.

Great, but you still shame low wage workers.

I just don't believe people should live off hand outs and damage businesses who face severe staffing shortages.
Yeah, you are a Clinton Democrat which was a Republican in the 1970s.

You don't get on businesses who are underpaying their staff, you blame the workers for being underpaid.

But Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, said data from other states indicate employers will still face challenges. In June and July, 26 states stopped their federal unemployment benefits and saw little change in the labor shortage.

“Employment growth in the states that ended supplemental (aid) early is no different than in the states that kept (it),” said Zandi. “And that's the same in industries where you'd expect this to be a big deal, like leisure and hospitality, and you just don’t see it.”

At Baldor Specialty Foods in the Hunts Point Produce Market, human resources director Ellen Barrera has about 130 openings for drivers, food processors and warehouse workers.

“We raised our salaries to $19 an hour,” from $17 previously. The Bronx-based business also doubled its sign-on bonuses to $3,000, and is holding job fairs. She said nearly 80 people attended last week, compared to fewer than 15 earlier in August.
