It sucks but staying there for another 20 years just isn't an option.

I'm 22 years old and for only 2 years of my life the US hasn't had troops fighting in Afghanistan. There are guys younger than me that have served in Afghanistan. That's crazy.

I feel like if we were going to leave this way we shouldn’t have engaged to begin with. It was pointless. We just got alot of Americans killed and left Afghanistan more fukked up than before. We should’ve been training their military, funding their military with aid and helping a new government transition since day one.

It’s a shame. Well breh, Kabul is definitely about to fall. The Taliban has pretty much guaranteed it. It would be like someone taking over LA, SF, Seattle, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas with only the East Coast cities remaining in our control. Nah, the Isrealis would have a far, far greater technical capability than any one else in the Middle East even without our help. We just put them over the top. Their technological industries are world-class. The Afghans don't need high powered weapons systems to protect themselves. A rifle and knowledge of the caves/mountains has stopped invaders for centuries.

I know they won the Six Day War but that was one battle. If the West really left Israel alone over there with no aid or support they would’ve got overran eventually. The US just didn’t give a real fukk about Afghanistan. If Russia can keep Syria from falling, then we could’ve did the same. We just didn’t care.

Could we have stood up a zombie government/military for the foreseeable future? Sure. Is it worth it? No. We tried with mixed results. Afghanistan isn't "falling" it's finding a natural social and political equilibrium absent America. The alternative is perpetual colonization. After a trillion dollars and the longest war in American history, I don't know how anyone can say the issue is a lack of "care" or "effort". I'm not accusing you of doing this, but the crocodile tears from MIC propagandists is annoying beyond belief.

I don’t see how you cant see the comparison. Israel is in the vipers nest being next to multiple powers that would’ve overran it completely without our involvement. There is no way Israel would’ve fought off Iran if we had abandoned the region historically. We give aid to Israel each year. We fund their military, we funded the Iron Dome and we likely gave Israel nukes or the resources to acquire nukes under the table. How are you not seeing the comparison? So yes. When it benefits us, we will ensure that a country does not fall to adversaries. So like I said, don’t say we can’t. We just decided the juice isn’t worth the squeeze when it comes to Afghanistan.
