The point I'm making is this. Before covid gun crime was not this high. Illegal guns were trafficking in the cities before covid. Cops were able to crack down on gun crime then. What has changed? Police not putting the same effort to crack down on these crimes as they did before the George Floyd protest. All I am saying gunn violence started spiking something serious here right around the time of the protest. Cops started quiting and retiring en mass. Cops started doing a silent strike aka slowdown. Point is before 2020 gun crime was low and cops were doing their jobs and now its different. Its not the economy because trillions of dollars of stimulus was pumped in the economy to keep alot of people afloat. I was never down with the defund police movement. Matter fact I attacked leftist activist with those words because it makes no damn sense. What they should have said was Demilitarize the police. The solution to me is thorough investigation of police departments nationwide to see if there any slowdowns being done that tis connected to crime. If it is founded those cops should immediately get fired and never to be hired by another police department again.
This ties in with my main point which is the elephant in the room is that in a 2016 poll 84% police officers supported Trump. That number likely is higher last year. It hard to trust a police force when the vast majority of them support fascism. Law enforcement needs major reforms and what I dont want is that gets lost in this conversation. We can do both in tackling crime and reforming police. But what I hearing is people focusing on the crime side and less on police reforms. Ending qualified immunity is a start to do this imo.

"Defund The Police" was never about taking the money being given to PDs and burning it, it was about redirecting it to upstream issues. Less police and more social workers, education workers, community services, social safety net programs, etc.
