He actually has somewhat of a point, but not for the reasons the article implies. But because an article like this even exists.

The supposedly 'liberal' media has done its hardest to buy into right wing framing and portray the Republicans as the protagonists. The stimulus passing without any Republican votes isn't looked at as a failure on their part to meet the needs of the people, even though a majority of their own voters supported it. Instead it's been framed as a broken promise by Biden, because he failed to 'reach across the aisle' and secure any Republican votes.

The media is already running with the narrative of "The economy is coming back just fine. We don't really need a $2T+ infrastructure package. It's just going to 'overheat' the economy." That already gives the Republicans plenty of cover to throw out a pitiful $300B bill. And if the Dems move ahead on reconciliation, it'll be framed as another 'broken promise' by Biden: "Oh, he said he wanted bipartisanship, but then he just did what he wanted anyway."

Republicans are already better at messaging, so people will buy it even though the Rethuglicans will do and have done worse in the same position.
I've always disagreed with the Republicans being better at messaging than the Democrats. Because I believe the vast majority of white people are racist, you don't have to message well to appeal to them. White people control the media and therefore the messaging. Black people still have no real voice and the so called liberal white usually walk the line of appealing to blacks without actually creating any real paradigm shift in the laws and policies that adversely affect them. Being able to relate to racists does not take expert messaging. Just racism.

interesting take, and very true

the bar is so much higher for Dems, they gotta execute perfectly on messaging to overcome the very low bar R’s need to win over their base of racist white folk

like....the bar is lower than ever now, as they don’t even try to dog whistle any more - R’s just need to be their full blown racist and bigoted selves, 0 effort or tact needed

Here is Kristen Welker doing the Republicans bidding today.
