What are you talking about? What choice? These are leaks/reports from random fukking reporters. There is no evidence that Biden is actually considering these people. It's like freaking out about a Chris Broussard report. Like why? It just seems to me like the same people freaking out about every single anonymous sources report about his supposed cabinet are part of coalitions that he destroyed in the primary. This coming from a Warren G stan.
Campaigns leak these choices to see what the response would be from the public and various stakeholders. No one is saying that Biden has already made his choices, the point is that by showing public rejection of certain names being floated, you can push Biden away from potentially choosing certain person. It's the same process as when he was going through his VP search. It was reported he was considering Klobuchar as VP, people said "hell no", and he went with Kamala. If there was no public outrage at those reports, it would have been a point in Klobuchar's favor during the selection process. So even if Biden isn't going to choose the person being floated, a show of public outrage or support for that person will indicate to him where the public temperature is at. If a report leaks that the Biden camp is looking at the Goldman Sachs CEO as his Treasury Secretary and there is no response to that, Biden would rightfully be emboldened to consider that choice because he knows he won't lose any political capital on it. There's no reason to just accept a passive, powerless position here. The public has influence.
