At that time Cash Money was running shyt so when it came on the radio I first thought it was B.G. cause of the drawl but then i heard the nikka say: " To play me, ba-by, hey he, gone need a track from God featuring Jesus or Jay-Z....." :ooh:

I was like no way in hell B.G. could up with a line like that.... :heh:

It was the first time i heard of T.I. and always checked his shyt since. I liked the song then and still like it now...how did ATL recieve it and hip-hop in general?

i liked it. but that shyt got ignored. where i was no one gave a fukk about TI until 24's and Rubberband Man.
same...i remember seeing the video alot just never really payed attention to it like that...it was one of them joints that came on rap city and i'd go do something real quick while it was in the background

Wrong. Dope Boys is the one that got tons of play before 24s.

More than “I’m serious”

where i'm from you fukking nitwit. do you not understand that implies i'm speaking only for people in that area? :hhh:

WHERE I'M FROM no one was fukking with Dope Boys, or anything else on that first album, until after Trap Muzik dropped. period. i imagine it was very different down south. but i'm not talking about down south.

It flopped especially for it being produced by The Neptunes. I liked the song, but it was a flop considering the run The Neptunes was having with hits, but they never were that great with producing hits for or breaking new talent.

"Dope Boyz" was more the tupe of song to build his base off of though. That was pretty much the template for Trap Muzik.

T.I didn't start to get attention, at least nationally, and in San Diego till 2003, with "24's", and Trap Muzik was pretty iconic out here. That summer 2003 Trap Muzik was daily anthem music. The only song I really fukked with on "Im Serious", which I didn't hear until years later was "Still Ain't Forgave Myself", which is probably one of his better moments.
