This is a case in which the messenger matters. With all the racism he has endured throughout his profesional life he's assuredly had to give himself that speech almost everyday.

I've also noticed that these sensational articles like to take the "worst" of what he said and highlight it out of context, while ignoring his acknowledgment of racism and its effects.

And this
Imagine that....."Nobody cares if you were molested by your dad. Nobody cares if you were raped by your boyfriend. Women have been getting raped and beaten for centuries and they endured. If they can overcome their assaults, then you can overcome yours too.
Is the stupidest shyt ever.

For one its not even equivalent to the message he gave to the young men.

For two he as the president can do absolutely nothing to stop people from being racist. He can't force a hiring manager not to throw your resume in the bushes cause your name is Tyrone.

It's funny because as I was skimming this thread last night, I turned on Michael Savage and he said Obama gave a race-baiting speech invoking Jim Crow and slavery and telling the men at Morehouse they were victims. :russ:

I really could care less what him and his wife are saying... Their influence really isn't > than 'Two Chains' in our communities, so we have bigger issues to discuss than their out of touch asses. Plus look at you and look at them... "all they nikkas look rich as fukk". They aren't down with ending classicism.
Classicism can't end by nikkas pretending they can pull themselves up by bootstraps.

I liked the speech but guys need to realize that this is what Black Men need to hear. Because it's the truth. NO ONE CARES...not enough to do anything about it. We are going to have to be the ones that change our outcome. White people & the U.S. Gov could care less. We have to realize this one day.

But, I do agree with Message's post about telling us why things are the way they are. Someone needs to tell these kids the real about society because they are hearing how 'everything is equal' but living that realness. So they know its a lie, and they rebel against it even though they don't understand it.

We keep hearing about how rappers made it out of their environments and they serve a sort of example. But it's not often they take up the social crusade. It affects their image and sales. I'm sure if someone marketed themselves correctly they could achieve their message AND become successful because of it. In fact, it's time for that. And it's not the second coming of :pachaha: it should be the new normal.

Advancement isn't the thing people want to do when the tried and true model has..been tried and true.

I look up to Gucci Mane. Not because of the IceCream tattoo on his face. But the fact that this dude has made it after years of work and has made himself a SYMBOL of the $$$ Rapper. It's the success he wanted and he got it.

Granted not everything about him is a shining example of the black man. But that's not what he wants to be. He is Gucci Mane. The definition of Gucci Mane includes success. That's the attitude we need to adopt in the face of our many struggles. We have to accept the struggle and work out of it. It ain't easy, It ain't fair. But it is what it is.

We need our OWN success. We're not slaves anymore. We need to start working to becoming our own masters.

"If I can do it, you can do it. You started with more than me" Gucci Mane

That's another thing. Its not 'us' or 'we' its the individual at the end of the day. Lead by example and the crowd will follow.

If you are also speaking from personal experience it carries weight. GWB couldn't claim that.

What about this man?

Herman Cain said:
"I don't believe racism in this country today holds anybody back in a big way,"

Oh Steve Colbert's brotha from another motha?! lol
He's allowed an opinion, those who hear it will decide how much they agree or disagree with it.

If you are also speaking from personal experience it carries weight. GWB couldn't claim that.

I don't know why so many posters on here or people in general see what obama as saying as if he is looking down on you or trying to appease white people. Like seriously? :wtf: Obama has been everywhere, he has experienced the racism first hand in getting to be the fukking president of the united states. How is what anything that he said untruthful? I would say he is being realist and truthful but it sounds like a lot of you don't want to hear it.

That is what I was thinking.

Is that the right message to men graduating from Morehouse college?

I know people who were there (Spelhouse alumni) and they all thought it was great :manny:

Sounds like truth to me. It's baffling how often I hear my fellow brothas making excuses. IMO the biggest difference between young blacks and young whites is that we can't be average or lazy. A white person can get by doing average, if he has the proper connections and network support. Most of us brothers don't have that network support, or that good old boys system of helping each other, or having a parent who can get you a decent job that you can build off of.

That's where the challenge is. Once we get more people into those high place positions we can build our own networks.

but this is the point. if a black person cant get by being the same lazy as the white guy.
that also means a black person of average intelligence will not get as far as a white person of average intelligence.

it also means, a black person of above average intelligence probably will not get as far as a white person of above average intelligence.

if all those things are true..TODAY. then that means black people are still at a serious deficit. and that means if i'm not lucky enough to have a family history of education, money, working class folks. i'm at an even greater deficit. so you are more or less telling me to be :cape: in order to live a normal white guys life. but i'm supposed to stop Crying about that unfairness? :what:

Does Herman Cain opinion on black americans carry as much weight as Obama if not more due to his own experiences?

hmmm. . . one guy is the president the other uh guy isn't. Who's opinion do you think carries more weight in the court of public opinion? You already know the answer. Nice try though.
