We have no use for that amount of energy.
If we could tap one solar Ray earth would have insane amounts of free energy for years, and yet these guys want to envelope the entire sun.
We have gotten in our own way of technological advancements and potential because of monetization. Our own greed. Over 100yrs ago electric cars were created but Big Oil, Ford, Chevy and the Rail Tyc00ns paid the govt off to bury it because of how it could affect their bottom line. Think about how far we have come just in 10yrs with Tesla being the lone company to make this possible and ONLY because the owner was one of the richest people on the planet and was willing to go bankrupt to do it. Now every major automaker already has or is developing an electric car and expect to go fully electric in the next 10yrs. Thats a 20yr swing from no electric to everyone being all electric. Thats 80yrs of development and technological advancements buried just for money. And thats just for a damn car. Our world is incapable of changing our nature to favor advancement over capitalism. We have long since passed the opportunity to have the type of societal thinking we would need to foster that kind of potential.Don’t worry too much. You’ll be dead waaaaaaay before humanity gets close to engineering something like that. Doubt humanity gets there before dying off anyways
There's another reason that may be more plausible: living space. The structure of Ringworld, for instance, has the equivalent land mass of 3,000,000 Earth-sized planets. The energy from the Sun would be harnessed to keep the structure's orbit stable with rockets/force-projectors and provide enough spin to simulate gravity.

wait, how?
Is this a project I can do with my kids?
Wouldn’t the ultimate advances in science and civilization be to find a way to use more of our brain? I am no scientist obviously, so I don’t even know if it’s just fiction or whatever, but if we had more control of our brain power, wouldn’t we be able to not only think of these things, but also figure out how to make them work?
why make more use of our brain when we could have AI?Wouldn’t the ultimate advances in science and civilization be to find a way to use more of our brain? This right here is the future. Planets are over rated.I love shyt like this
