i know Half a Mill got shot... anyone know what really happened

A documentary came out on it this summer.
Some cool footage of him recording Izerb with Nature and the Milion album release. Anyway the footage was really eerie and it all sort of plays out. Lots of snakes and trouble around him. Most of the guys in the documentary got murdered. I really don't know how I feel about it. I always heard he was murdered.

I'm sure someone will have some theories

never the less, Big L had mad years in the game and still couldnt get on or shine. I hate to speak anything ill of the dead but too many people want to claim like he was the next big or nas.

no no, he was sending sublims to the other harlem cats that got on like Mase. Dude was just not star material and his bars was nothing stand out from others.
Rick Ross has been signed & in the game for years before he hit it big, so had DMX, so had Jay-Z, it's not like it never happened before

Rapper Blade Icewood killed in Detroit drive-by shooting

The Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) — Rap performer Blade Icewood has been killed in a drive-by shooting, seven months after another gun attack left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Icewood, 27, whose legal name was Darnell Lyndsey, was in a wheelchair inside his Range Rover on Tuesday night when a shooter pulled along side in a vehicle and fired, Detroit police say. Icewood was dead at the scene.

Police have no suspects, the Detroit Free Press said Thursday.

The shooting was within a mile of the site where Icewood hosted a nonviolence rally last year.

The subjects of Icewood's hard-core raps include drugs, money, sex, guns, gangsters and premature death.

On one number, he raps about picking out a casket. On another, he talks about his possible death: "You'll never catch me. And if a hater just happen to stretch me, my funeral line, two miles long, all stretchies."
:sadcam:
Icewood was nominated in three categories in this Saturday's third annual Detroit Hip Hop awards, including album of the year.

This month, Icewood had planned to release his third CD, titled "Blood, Sweat and Tears." Part of it was going to deal with the September shooting, said Nicole Shakoor, a manager at Platinum Records in Detroit.

In September, gunmen forced their way into an Oak Park apartment and opened fire. Icewood was critically hurt with multiple wounds. Oak Park police Sgt. Mike Pinkerton said Wednesday that no one was ever arrested for that shooting and said Icewood had refused to help investigators.

Them nikkas ran in his spot, shot him the fukk up, parylized him, waited for him to heal up, he got a wheelchair and custom range, and shot this nikka up at a carwash

Big L's Brother Responds To Lord Finesse, Talks L's "Return"

posted October 25, 2010 at 11:46AM EDT

Exclusive: L's last living brother says the funky technician was ill-informed about who controls L's business and that the "Return of the Devil's Son" is in his hands.

Following the jaw-dropping revelations Diggin’ In The Crates crew-leader Lord Finesse made to HipHopDX back in July regarding the estate of his protégé, the late Big L, the sole surviving brother of the legendary Harlem emcee wants the world to know that he, and only he, controls his little brother’s posthumous affairs.

“No,” replied Donald Phinazee without hesitation when asked by DX on Friday (October 22nd) if L’s long absent father will see a penny of proceeds from the forthcoming collection of rare L recordings, Return of the Devil’s Son (due November 23rd). “I made sure of that too.”

“He don’t control nothing,” Donald, a/k/a Big Don, emphatically replied when further asked if, as Lord Finesse previously explained to DX, L’s father had assumed control of his son’s estate following the passing of Big Don and Big L’s mother, Gilda “Pinky” Terry, in 2008. “L’s father controls nothing. I control everything.”

“His father, that sperm donor... This have nothing to do with him,” Don clarified regarding the specific involvement of Lamont Coleman’s father in the first family-sponsored posthumous project from the esteemed emcee. “And I talked to Finesse and I told him about it. I was telling him about it: ‘His father might [try to] do something…’ But, I made a type of arrangement with [L’s father]. So he don’t have nothing to do with nothing… I know how [Finesse] feel though, ‘cause I feel the same way [about L’s father].”

While Don did not elaborate on the “arrangement” he made with L’s father to keep him out of his late son’s affairs, Big L’s eldest brother did speak at greater length about the arrangements he made to obtain the, in some instances nearly two-decade-old, master recordings of the late lyricist that were used for Return of the Devil’s Son.

“I got ‘em from the studios that had ‘em,” he revealed. “Lamont used to go to all different studios. So, he was out there, going to different spots. And I had to really go and find ‘em… [I had to] track dudes down… [But I think getting these tapes] was supposed to happen, because I was running into [most of] these dudes very easily… Out of nowhere, we just came together. It’s crazy how it happened. It’s really unbelievable.”

Return of the Devil’s Son includes Big L’s demonic debut 12” for which the album is named, as well as additional songs that were originally intended for L’s first full-length, Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous (“School Days,” “Unexpected Flava,” “I Should Have Used A Rubber,” “Principal Of The New School”), along with joints that would have likely surfaced on what would have been Big L’s sophomore studio LP (“Now Or Never” a/k/a “Power Moves,” “How Will I Make It?” a.k.a. “I Won’t,” “Hit It” a/k/a “Yes You Can”), and some of the several standout radio freestyles L amassed during the ‘90s (including the album’s finale, “Slaying The Mic,” a.k.a. the final freestyle L laid down before his tragic murder in February 1999).

No mention of Guru's death? and how that hoe ass nikka Solar was faking emails and doing all this shady business in Gu's name?

Im not even 100% up on the story but i know Solar hopped out of the spotlight with the quickness after Guru died.

I ain't gone front i didn't get put on to Big L till after he dead. At first i didn't see what everyone else was talking about but now that i've gotten older i see what people mean when they say he was the next one to blow. His flow and lyrics was on some other shyt for that time period. He was definitely ahead of his time to me. I don't know if he would have been multi plat big but he would have made some noise for real. I could picture him having a Siegel like career of constantly dropping tight albums and going Gold consistently. Let's not act like Jay would have let him get bigger than him or more shine. But it's a damn shame we never got to see what would have happened. At least with Pac dying you had a career's worth of albums (plus a million unreleased songs. With a cat like Big L and even B.I.G (he wasn't even alive to push LAD for real) who knows just what they would have accomplished if not murdered. Imagine Nas B.I.G Jay and Big L on a track or two together over the years.
