I was a Genesis Stan. I had love for Nintendo but I stuck with my choice because to me they had the better sports games.

The wars we had playing NHL 94 and Madden :wow:

Would You play that Joe Montana/NFL/Prime Time Football opposed to Madden or even Tecmo? Or Blazer Vs Bulls/NBA Showdown opposed to Live?
only one of those I've really played was Tecmo at a friend's house.

I was genuinely asking, what makes the older sega sports titles unplayable, compared to others around that time or slightly newer (or even older). They might be outdated, but outdated =/= unplayable.

My pops got me into gaming. He had me around colecovision and NES young and got the SNES for us.
I don't think of it as a war back then. Of course I wish I could've had a Sega, looking at shyt like Vectorman like :whew:
but I had friends/cousins that had them.

If anything, it gave us more excuses to hang out and was more like "Let's go to X house cause they've got Street of Rage, or Y's cause they got Zombie Ate My Neighbors"

Got the Genesis for Christmas in 91 and it came with Sonic and was great until the system broke later in the day, got another one though. Because i had a NES and Gameboy too i never got a SNES and could only play it when i went to my cousin's house. Plus for some reason all of my friends only had a Genesis as well.

I do wish i had it back then, but i did play quite a few games on emulator and should look into playing some more.

Genesis was superior for sports games and SNES was king for fighting games. I don't know anybody that had both, but those of us that could go down the street to a friend or cousins house to play the system you didn't own were eating good in that era :blessed:

It was weird how Jurassic Park for SNES was a completely different game than JP on Genesis. Trying to recall other games like that...

The only conflict I remember from this was Aladdin on Genesis vs SNES

I was definitely team SNES. The game is way better but I’d always butt heads with the Genesis version fans.

I remember nikkaz was legit throwing hands on the playground for that console war.

:banderas:

There was no social media or anything it was on-site if you nikkaz was talking shyt about your console.

I was team Sega of course. I swear all the black kids had a Sega console back then.
Truth.

I was too young to care deeply but my older cousins all switched from SNES to Sega. They loved playing Mortal Kombat and entering those codes before the fight started....or playing Madden 95 and using the Panthers or Jaguars instead of Niners, Cowboys etc.

When I got to the age of being an active Console War belligerent, Playstation was dominating but N64 had juice because of Golden Eye. Mario etc. Fukked around and got a Sega Saturn and then had to switch to PS a year later.

I only knew one white boy that lived on my street that had a Sega Saturn. When he got it was when all the kids either had Sega genesis or Super Nintendo so all the kids looked at him like he was rich. It was short lived though because all the kids started getting PlayStations and Nintendo 64’s no one gave a fukk about Sega saturn after that.
