I didn’t know what Sega was and got a Genesis for Christmas in 92. I wanted a Nintendo. I didn’t realize they had Super Nintendos yet until I went to a friends house.

Despite being a Genesis kid I think SNES makes Genesis its bytch. Genesis is a poverty system and I was always jealous of Super Nintendo kids. Genesis had nothing on Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, or Donkey Kong Country (especially 2). Zelda, Final Fantasy, Mario RPG, Mega Man, Super Metroid, it goes on and on. Being a Genesis kid sucked. We had Mortal Kombat but so did SNES and SNES version was uncut after MKII. I don't think a single Sonic is better than Mario World and to top it off SNES had Mario All Stars. Every damn Mario game at the time on one system.

So many Genesis games are bad ports of Sega arcade games like Virtua Fighter or Outrun or something. Poverty system with a few good games but ain't nothing fukking with Super Nintendo that generation.

After being a Sega kid and not being able to play Donkey Kong Country 2 or Super Metroid I decided to get it right every generation afterwards and get the winning system. Next gen I got a PS1. fukk Sega after the 32x, Nomad, Sega CD, and Saturn. By Dreamcast I considered the word Sega to be wack and wasn't surprised when they went third party. I was a Sony stan for life (though they kind of lost me with PS5).

One time I stayed with my cousin in California over summer and he had both a Genesis and Super Nintendo. Bruh, it wasn't even close. We played SNES everyday and never touched the Genesis once. F-Zero, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country. :wow:

I was so jealous. Thankfully I had a Game Boy and eventually got my own SNES.

Genesis has nothing as good as Link to the Past or Super Metroid. Straight poverty system.

Sonic 2, 3, S&K

Insane back to back run. I remember my dad taking us to movie gallery to rent something. I got him to get Sonic 3 for me. Got home and those b*stards put the wrong game in the case. Gave me vectorman lol.

TYRONE GA!
The only conflict I remember from this was Aladdin on Genesis vs SNES

I was definitely team SNES. The game is way better but I’d always butt heads with the Genesis version fans.
Genesis version of EA sports games were better. Didn't know EA had different developers doing the games though.

Genesis all the way. Because I play sports games. I even went raw console no sonic. So I could get two sports games off the bat

I was there when NES knocked off Atari :flabbynsick:

And I'm reading through the thread & people saying they didn't realize there was a war. :what: The companies were literally taking shots at each other (especially Sega) on commercials & magazine ads. That was probably the first stan war i had with my friends & classmates 🤣

Genesis had better controls. Playing Street Fighter 2 on SNES was a nightmare.
Other way around for me.

Genesis 3 buttons + hitting Start sucked compared to the SNES controller

The Genesis version DID have the better sound. It was closer to the arcade

Fatal Fury was better on Genesis too. On SNES..playing Andy Bogard was a nightmare. Had no business being that hard to do his basic shyt.

Genesis only had 3 buttons. unless you had the 6 button controller that came out later
As a kid, that was the main reason why I felt genesis was inferior to SNES
